Has anybody used the Wiimote with the Wiimote+ adapter for Mame light-gun & driving games? I have worked the standard Wiimote into light-gun games (no luck with driving games) with some success but was wondering if the Wiimote+ adapter can eliminate some of the problems the standard Wiimote limitations caused. Also, if anybody has any scripts that work for these applications please point me to them:)

I've just started messing around with it some but havn't tried it in mame yet. Sounds like a quick and easy way to get lightgun games working, but how accurate is it though?

Mame sees the Wiimote as a mouse pointer. It works but it tends to get jumpy too often (in my experience). I can't get driving games or games dependent on acceleration controls to work at all. I know that my scripting commands can use some work but I think some of it is due to the fact that the basic Wiimote isn't as "interactive" as it should be.

I'm sure that Glove-Pie itself is adding some of the jumpiness. I've really only meesed with using the Wiimote on a PC for headtracking with Freetrack and it seems to work just fine for that. What I meant by accuracy is that the mouse pointer doesn't really correlate directly to where your pointing the Wii remote. Are you able to adjust it enough to the point where that's not even noticeable? If so, then it sounds like it could be a really good alternative...once the other kinks are worked out.

Now that the Ultimarc AimTrak is available I wouldn't bother trying to get the Wii controller to work. It works the exact same way as the Wii controller (at least from a light gun standpoint) but was designed to be used with a PC and MAME, so it is a much cleaner solution. There seem to be some problems with drift at the edges of the screen, but that's to be expected to a degree with anything that uses a narrow LED bar, and with any luck that will be resolved.
