I spied one of these in a local shop the other day. It's boxed in a pink box that says Gameboy Pocket on it, and has Japanese text underneath. It was £20 ($30) - worthwhile? Is it just a bog standard Japanese Gameboy?

Unless it's some kind of special edition (Sanrio, Pokemon, etc.) it probably isn't worth much more than a U.S. Game Boy Pocket, since you can play Japanese Game Boy games on a U.S. Game Boy. Also, I would imagine that there are MANY, MANY, MANY Game Boys in Japan.....^_^

I guess I should have worked that out for myself, but I am always intrigued when I see anything out of the ordinary at the local games shops. There's not often much worth the while there, but occasionally I pick up a gem.

Today I got Castlevania : The Next Generation for £6.99 - not a steal, but definately less than it's worth (for PAL anyway). Better still, I bought it with store credit that I got when I traded in Mario Party 2 and Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness for the N64. I dont even have an N64, but I saw them for £8 each in a video shop, and got £37 trade in at Gamestation :D
