I put 2 of those pics there so you could see it up close. It's made completely from Perler Beads!!! It took a LONG time and lots of patience. We're getting it professionally framed, and it's going to be hung in our house.

I put the picture with the can on the left side so you could see the size of the thing.

It's about 3 1/2 foot tall and 4 1/2 wide.

Let me know what you think!!!

Ken

Thats very good, honestly I would never be able to keep up a project so extensive like that without at some point either losing interest of going insane.

Hell I bet you could even sell it on ebay and get a good price on it...

Dude...haven't you ever played Metroid?!

Seriously though, awesome stuff. I second the "I never would have the patience to make that" thoughts.

Yeesh, the guy just got done building the thing. Don't make him go back and count all the beads!

I'd be curious to know the bead count of this.

I'm guessing 61440. The NES has a resolution of 256x240 and this is 256 beads wide. I'm not sure it's exactly 240 high but i'd guess it'd be the same, otherwise it wouldn't look quite right. Good job though. What's next?

you're going to have to get a glass topped coffee table to put that under.

That must have taken forever... I'm working on a huge needlepoint project myself so i can relate to how much work you've put into it. good job!

That's at least the second largest picture of the start screen I've seen comprised of entirely Perler beads.

Very cool. When you frame it will you be able to smooth out the lines so that it doesn't look like it's comprised of larger rectangles? I'd like to see the framed finished product on the wall.

Thats easily one of the coolest Nes/Nintendo related projects Ive seen done in a long while. Your hard work really paid off. Looks amazing.

I just thought of a cool idea. Have each vertical column of beads hanging from a different string attached to a frame at the top. The you could use it as a hanging curtain in doorways. The dimensions might not quite work right heightwise for a single screen but, say, if it were a vertical shooter... I bet you could sell that since it wouldn't only be cool artwork, it would also be practical.
