A few folks may remember that I found and sold a prototype / prerelease version of the Bandai Pippin a year or two ago. The system was white, and it had stickers saying that it was not licensed for retail sale by the FCC (something about it still being in testing or something like that).
Well, I found a retail system - a black @World with a gamepad today. It didn't include any hookups but it uses standard S-Video / RCA / power cords so that's no biggie. I couldn't find any software with it. I didn't buy it but I'm sure the system will still be there tomorrow (the price was relatively high, not too much but it's something your average buyer wouldn't pay for such an item.)
How much would a standard black Bandai Pippin @World in this condition sell for? It had a 4MB memory card hooked up in the bottom panel. I don't mind spending a few bucks to get it if I can double or triple my investment. (Or if anyone wants it, well, here you go.)

I would love to get one, but it's too close to the Oklahoma Videogame Expo for me to throw money around. I'd like to get one eventually, just as a curiosity, but not if it'll break the bank.

This is the only black one I could find online, seller claims it's rare, but the price is out of wack:

That's a complete in box set. There's no way that's worth $1100. Someone was selling CIB sets on eBay for $300, I think...

The auction unit is quite a bit rarer than the true US unit. It's one of the black Japanese (Atmark). The US unit is the black Atworld. Not sure it's really worth $1100 as it's missing the third inner box and the outer box, but it is worth more than an Atworld.
I think I gave about $500 for my US system with all 3 inner boxes, but no outer box. Never seen one loose though. The Japanese units (white Atmark) are much easier to find and go for a lot less.

Well.
I guess it's worth spending $20 to resell it then. :)

I'd give you more than that for the memory expansion alone... :)

Wow, where do you find these things?
The black one is worth between $150 and $200 loose. There's a boxed on on eBay right now for $240 as a BIN.

It's my Mexican mojo. :D
You haven't been here for very long, so you don't know how lucky I can get with these finds. ;)

The memory is worth at least 2x that!

Yeah, Kitsune's finds make me green with envy every time I enter this particular forum. :D

I see the infamous LingJr has a 8MB memory card up for the low, low (especially for LingJr standards but that's another story) price of $148.
Looks nonstandard to me. I imagine getting that 4MB card into circulation amongst Pippin fans will be a nice service, and then you've got the bare unit to do whatever with as well.

Can the Pippin function without that memory card?
I'd be willing to split the two items, but I have to make sure. If the system won't be able to save without it then I won't split it up. I'm in it for the profit but I'm not that much of a dick. :P
I just wish they'd had some games with the system. Maybe they'll show up next week.

The only thing that the memory expansion does for you (that I'm aware of) is lets more games run. Some of them require extra memory from what is shipped with it.
If you do part it out or find any games, I'd love to know about it!

I just hooked it up, and it works. The pad has some issues with the trackball, I guess it's just dirty.
Oh and the thing had a game inside! A Power Rangers Zeo game. It's... well... horrible.
Also, the thing booted to Mac OS before the game actually started. That was surprising...
