The first three games in the series are all worth playing. I remember really enjoying Crash Team Racing, too. Everything else, stay away from.

It's understandable, though; I'm sure you've been busy. With your studies at the Sorbonne, your subsequent post-graduate work as a Rhodes Scholar, and current duties as U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, I imagine you've had very little time for gaming.

I second Jason there... the first three games are by far the best. The series went downhill quickly after that.

Exactly the same with the Spyro franchise.

You're not the only one. While I've played the demos of all four, I don't own a single one. I have a very well-rounded PSX collection of over a 100 games, but the single biggest glaring omission is the original four Crash games.

Impressive! Crash 1 was the first PS1 game I played. The first 3 are pro. CTR was so-so. The rest pretty well suck, but the Twinsanity one on PS2 is quite nice too.
Crash 2 > Crash 1 > Crash 3 > CTR

I did the exact same thing as you. All I had ever played of Crash were demos, until last month when I traded sports games for good ones. One of those being Crash Bandicoot Warped.

Same here. At my peak, my PS1 collection was 230, not a single Crash.
Spyro, that's where it's at.

I played the hell out of the first two back in the day. I had moved on to other things (probably 4-player gaming on the N64 or online gaming with Quake) by the time the others came around. I always thought the first game had beautiful level design. I'm a NiGHTS guy, but even back in the day I had to concede that Crash looked damn good. It has such a lush an vivid color palette.
The best is the second, though. They really crammed a lot into that game, and completing the game 100% was a massive undertaking. I've still got my version with the holographic cover. Fun stuff.

i just had to dig Crash Bandicoot 2 out for my gf to play. I always watched my friends play, never really played it myself.

+1 for 1-3 + racing.
Actually, I kinda liked the party game a bit. Wasn't as bad as the slew of other mario party ripoffs that started happening late PS1/N64 era.

I agree, the first game has awesome graphics. I also liked how it has both 3D and 2D stages, or sometimes a mix of both in the same level. (For example: the temple stage.) My only complaint is that it doesn't have analog control. It doesn't matter so much on the 2D stages, but for some of the 3D stages it can be annoying. (Mainly the ones where Crash is chased by something.)

If it makes you feel any better, I've spent more time with Simpsons Wrestling than the first Crash Bandicoot.
(Also, please do us a favor and never use the term "pretty little bitches" in here again. It hurts our brains. Kthx.)

The first three are awesome, and I never played any after that (I guess thats a good thing). I remember spending tons of hours on 2 and 3, trying to get 100% completion. Definately worth checking out, but like many others said, I would probably avoid the later games.

I just realized, i have never played this game either. When the PS1 came out I was all wraped up in Driving games. IE Grand Turismo. I have found it on ebay, now I must buy it

I don't really like the first Crash. It has some perspective issues -- there's one level where you have to cross a river (or whatever) by jumping on a series of floating leaves. I kept dying over and over again because once I was up in the air, I couldn't tell exactly where I was landing. The jungle theme grows tired, and the levels get repetitive. Plus it has a pretty poor framerate.
The third one is great, though.

I always liked Crash Bash, the 4 player pong was awesome. Most of the mini-games were pretty good, and you didn't have to go around a nauseating princess birthday cake game board to play it.
I also always liked Crash Team Racing battle mode better than Mario Kart battle mode (blasphemy, meh), the stages were more fun (not symmetrical) and you could TURN OFF the seeker missiles/red shells! (or any weapon / combination for that matter) It felt much less like luck, and more like aim. The racing wasn't too bad either.
The regular Crash games, I've played a little. Not too much though.

Played and hated the first one. No idea about the rest. I never could understand what the big deal was. Pseudo-3D always felt cheap to me and the game can't compete w/ the best SNES platformers or side-scrollers (DKC series, Super Mario series). I really couldn't see a point to playing it.

You know what I just realized?! Topic titles that are like a box of chocolate - too bad they're all nougats. But seriously, Crash Bandicoot is one I haven't played in a long time. I played one of the first trilogy, I think, years ago, and don't even have it anymore. Was amazingly pretty back then (I'd say still would be, great use of color all around).

2 and 3 I had incredible fun with. Part 1 I found fun, but rather frustratingly difficult at times.

Hope you got your legs back to lay the box on, Lieutenant Dan. :above me:
Still, I own Warped and it looks and plays better than the first.
