Great game, even greater on the good ol' PC Engine! I received my copy today, and am truly surprised to see just how close it comes to the SNES version...possibly even better! Anyway, I do have a question that maybe someone can answer. SF2 CE comes in a double CD case, unlike other games that just come in a single one. There are spots to hold TWO Hucards in the case....why? Only one is being used for the game. What was supposed to go in the other? I find it hard to believe Capcom sported the extra pennies to package the game in a double case just for the hell of it. Anybody know?

Word has it that SF2:CE was meant to be a played through a Hu and CD combination, but that idea was scrapped at the least minute, hence the double CD case.

Youre right, its a great conversion. Except for the voice samples and missing background elements its very comparable to the SNES version. In fact, the sound effects are even better than the SNES', despite NEC's horrible sound chip.

Thanks for the heads up. That's quite interesting. Luckily for me they didn't go the cd/hucard combo route, as I don't have a cd unit. Actually, I only collect hucards.

One other question. What is up with the bubbled out front of the hucard? Only cards I have seen like this are some of the cd rom system cards. Did they have to add extra memory or other goodies in there?

It's even better if you have an Avenue 6 controller that wasn't crushed to death by a rogue foot :P

And...huCards RULE! But you're missing out on some KILLER CD games!

One step ahead of you :) I made sure I got an Ave 6 when I got the game. It wasn't crushed, but let me tell you...dirty as heck. I had to take apart the entire controller today, PCB, buttons, everything. I washed the casing with Pamolive (softens hands while washing your joypad casings!), clean the PCB with alcohol, and windex scrub each button and rubber contact. Years of grime, Japanese food, what have you. Clean as a whistle now, and works like it just came out of the box. Took a good hour or so to clean that badboy!

LOL! Actually....that crushed controller thing was a private joke/cheap shot at jaydub! Anyway, the bubbled up top of SFII is cause they had to add extra RAM or something to the card to make it work for the PC Engine. It's not common, but it does happen on the occasionally PCE card (like the Tennokoe Bank).

I bought that in Japan years and years ago and I THOUGHT I bought the good 6-button controller to go with it. Only to come home and see that the Japanese PC-Engine controller didn't fit into my TG-16! DOHH!!! >:(

Great game otherwise.. Just wish I had a 6 button controller all these years :/

Yes, my gargantuan foot played the role of Godzilla to my 6 button pad's Tokyo. Ever since that incident I've made cetain never to place a controller on the floor again, even for a fraction of a second.

On a side note, i wish more PCE games were 6 button compatible. The Godzilla fighter couldve used it, definitely.
