Can't find 'em anywhere, and it's driving me nuts!!

I got 152 good working ones now, by cobbling together the right sets, but I still have 10-15 games I'm trying to get working, and can't find anywhere to download the chipsets I need.

I know where to get ROM's, but the ROMs are the wrong sets, they are missing one or more files...and it is the missing files I'm looking for, so I can add them into what I already have to make things work.

ClrmamePro is of no help.

Anyone suggest anywhere I can get some good 37b5 files?

Why do you insist on sticking with such an old MAME build?In theory, the newer versions are optimized for more complex, multi-processor architectures, whereas the older builds would be faster for simpler games.

But what the magic is about 37b5 in particular, I have no idea.

ok...I'm sticking with 37b5 because that is the build I have to have to run MAME4ALL on the Dingoo A-320 with the Dingux application.

Not my choice...it's what the program requires.

Okay, so I lied, it looks like about 23 files I am actively looking to get. Of course, I'll gladly take any others that I don't have so that I can try them out ans see if they are any good. But those are the ones I am immediately looking for.

I'll see what I've got(probally won't be able to until this weekend), though I seem to remember some of those games not running back then. Are you sure they were all emulated at that point? Also, some games may need more than the ROM files. Audio files for instance.

No rush. Will appreciate the help I get.
I'm not sure if they all worked or not, but they are all listed as "supported" in the gameslist file that comes with MAME4ALL

I had many, many files I got that didn't work because I needed to add a chip here and there, and mostly, I was able to find what I was looking for, and plug it in and make it work. For example, it was a LOT of work to make Galaga work, but I made it work...had to find the right chips, and add them into the zip file.

Others, for example, "Cruisin'" I could not make work at all, but then I remembered that "City Connection" was a clone of that same game, and I got that one to work, so it was all good there.

Just as an example, Gauntlet, on my list, says it needs file "gauntlt1.6p" in order to work. Good luck finding that one lousy chip, though, ya know it?

Anyways, any help would be appreciated. I know, it's an old MAME build...but it's the one that works on the Dingoo...and, besides, being old-school as I am, mostly I don't need speed.

I happen to have a bootleg Shinobi that is working, but, unfortunately, it's in Japanese, which I'll put up with if I have to, but I really want English. I can't actually read Japanese. Of course, if I could just isolate and replace the language chip for that one...it might work out. But I do not know which chip is the language chip.

R.O.F.L.M.A.O.P.M.P! It's just that some of the ones I'm missing are really, really, really good ones. Some of the 152 I have are ones most folks probably never heard of, like, for example, Black Widow, or Bosconian...or Azurian Attack. All excellent games, but definitely not mainstream.

I'd have 153 but I gave up on Asteroids, because it ran too slow, no matter how much I clocked it up.
The weird thing is...Asteroids Deluxe, on the other hand, runs great, but the original Asteroids?? Slow, slow, slow...unplayable.

I'd most awesomely love to manage to get 200 of the best all-time games. Even if I don't play them all it isn't the point. The point of the whole thing is preservation of the Classics...never let them die!!

I'm digging the Landau, Berserker, though I don't get the specific reference. Is that Space: 1999? Never seen it. A++ anyway.

Actually on topic now: Some Capcom MAME ROMs of about that age were distributed many moons ago (early part of the decade I believe) with the X-Arcade stick.

It's an open question as to whether there's really a point of emulating old MAME ROMs because MAME itself emulates, as of at least a couple versions ago it included part of a MAME rip-off project within itself (that's how it was described in the readme, I don't know what this actually is within MAME).

But generally I think it's rather pointless, as MAME ROMs are being updated for accuracy all the time. For example, I believe some ROMs for Out Zone were renamed or shifted down in priority because they were just prototypes. Battle Garegga's ROMs were renamed a few versions back as well. Generally speaking, if you want the best and truest experience, going to newer versions is good (nevermind that lots of people stick by old versions of WolfMAME, .99 or 1.06, because of input lag in newer versions, though I hope that is finally being cleared up).

Thanks to MAME, pretty much everybody has heard of Bosconian and even Black Widow. Actually, Black Widow is on GameTap as well now. Azurian Attack isn't one I'm familiar with though, I've seen the name but I wouldn't have pulled it out of memory.

By the way, Blast Off is the sequel to Bosconian, and is a game I'm vaguely interested in finding sometime...expensive though.

Hell, I'm just glad they got a MAME4ALL to work there. They still do not have anything comparable for DS.

I could never make MacraDS work for me. AMEIODA-DS (spelling) does work, of course, but only supports 4 games...and then there's DSPACK, and Pang for DS and Mr. Do for DS...but nowhere near the level of MAME capability.

I would love someone to port a MAME4ALL to DS...but it hasn't happened yet.

You can clock up the Dingoo to about 420, so, the earlier build is definitely better in this case. But, for 80 bucks, you can't argue with the value of the Dingoo...it does a lot of stuff for only 80 bucks.

P.S. I know that the Japanese basically says that...but, it's just a thing with me. I really like games to be in my own language...I'm sorta picky like that.

Okayyyy...thanks to those who helped. I HAD 152 that worked. Now, I have 164 that work...and that includes NO Dupes.

Meaning...I got Donkey Kong to work so I got rid of Crazy Kong, for example.

It looks like about 13-15 of the ROMs I wanted worked, out of the 20-something I listed...and another 5 of them work okay on my PC, but are not practical for the Dingoo, because they require the screen to be panned to see the whole thing, and that doesn't work out...examples of this are APB and the Sprint games.

They just didn't work out with the Dingoo, specifically, even though the files worked.

Just wish I could have made Pole Position, Pole Position 2, and Rush N Attack work, but those three are among those that, even with the right files plugged in...just plain won't work.

Oh, well.

There IS a difference between MAME4ALL "supporting" a specific game...and MAME4ALL actually playing it well...and then the issue of screen size comes into play every once in a while...like on Punchout, or on Tapper...the screen size just don't work.

I'll have to go thru my list again now...and then check off on the KLOV, and see if I didn't miss some good ones in there somewhere.
