What should I get, Original Amiga or Minimig?

I'm probably not qualified to judge, since I've never had a Minimig in front of me. But I think nothing beats the feeling of having the actual hardware in front of you, with all its faults like the clicking disk drive and the constant guru meditations.

I'd say try to get a real Amiga 1200. If I'm not mistaken, the Minimig doesn't support AGA, so you'd be missing out on some games. Plus, the 1200 (compared to other Amiga models) is cheaper and easier to expand if you decide to do so later on.

Agreed. Get a 1200, work some WHDLoad magic and you're set. Minimig isn't really worth what it's offering.
