Free- not traded not bought and stealing is not nice but would apply here.

A friend gave me 2 PSX games the other day:
Tekken 3
SW: Rebel Assault 2

Both complete and in excellent shape. He found them in a box while cleaning up his garage. 8-)

I got the import Saturn gun game Death Crimson for free from a gamestore once when I bought some cheap 3DO games. The guy said that it had come out in the States (it didn't, though the sequel came out for the Dreamcast.) It's one of the rarest Saturn games, and it sucks really bad.

TRS-80 Color Cubes

Cristopher Sly (from AtariAge) sent it to me free, and I didn't even have to pay shipping. He was just happy to be rid of it!

I had a new flatmate move in last week, and he gave me a bunch of stuff that he'd had kicking around, including:

a Megadrive 1 w/Speedball 2, Classic Collection comp, SoR 2 and Megagames 2
a Gamegear with about a dozen loose carts
Playstation Worms & Doom

Even though I've already got most of it, it would have been rude to say no :-D

Whoa whoa whoa... could you elaborate on the rarity of this game? I've had it sitting in a desk drawer for about 6 years... I don't collect imports but I bought this from a video store for like $4 in like 1997.

You're right it does really suck.

To stay on topic, my brother in law gave me Mario 64, Shadows of the Empire and WWF Attitude as well as a crusty old snes the other day.

the last free game I got would probably be a complete Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete for psx, but the last free video game things I got were:

bare SNES (working, now modded to play Japanese games as a test machine)
bare Genesis (model 1)
A N64 with just AC adapter
a bare N64

and the kiosk dreamcast that maxlords got, heh.

I got a Commodore CDTV complete from a friend of my father. He was going to give it to Salvation Army.

Rummaging some game stores in Paris a few months ago I found a bunch of used US DC titles for like 5 Euros apiece($5.50-ish) and bought Lodoss War, Mr. Driller and a few others. On the way out I also noticed a stack of boxed brand-new Sega's White Saturn 3D controllers priced at 15 Euro apiece, so I went back to the guy with two of those. Then on the way out once again, he jokingly asked me if there was anything else I might be looking for. So I asked if he had any Taxi 2: Le Jeu(DC). And he told me that it is quite rare.

But, he said, "here you go" and gave me a copy of it from beneath the counter. The cover was crinkled and the instructions were missing(PAL DC titles have a separate cover and instructions but the disc and the jewel insert was in good shape. and it was free :D

Now I have two of Taxi 2: Le Jeu. :D

One beat up, and one in great condition.

During that visit to Paris I actually managed to puzzle together all but one of the PAL DC uniques. I am only missing European Super League, which is pretty common. With the US set near complete after a very fruitful visit to my local EB, I guess I'll have to go for the Japanese uniques next.

When I opened a trade package from gamereviewgod, there was a bonus NFL Game Day disc in there. Free!

Outside of a trade, I helped my wife's cousin move last fall, and he gave me a broken-spindle Playstation and a dusty Saturn that were lying in a closet. One spindle and one damp rag later, they are trooping along nicely.

Saturn...that's sweet. I'm working on Euro uniques, too. I picked up a lot of the common ones when I was in England, but of course, no Taxi 2's there. If you come across another one for a decent price, let me know!

A couple weeks ago my boss gave me a box full of Atari stuff. A 7800 with all hookups and two controllers plus a couple 2600 controllers, paddles and 2 keyboard controllers. there was also about 40 2600 games in the box, most of them had the instruction manuals. the manual for the 7800 was in there too.

all the games were pretty common but there were a few that I needed. a few that come to mind: Private Eye, Solar Fox, Mash, Brain Games and Basic Programming.

Yeah, the Euro uniques set proved a lot more difficulty than the US set.

Rez was pretty hard to find. I think I ended up paying 40Euro for it brand new in Paris, which was a great deal.

Giant Killers was another difficult one. Did find that one in London though.

As far as getting another Taxi 2. In November of 2002 I went to virtually every gamestore in Paris(and there are a lot of them!) and I only came across one. This time in May, I went to a few of the stores around Republique(about 12 stores within one city block O_O) and came across none(except for the one I was given). I might go back there this fall though and pick up any of them that I can find.

Behold: Paris paradise:

http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/essankay/lst?.dir=/Games&.src=ph&.view=

Right next to Republique on Boulevard Voltaire in Paris there is a videogame district of sorts.

About a dozen or so stores within a city-block. This is common in some places in Europe. Brussels has a comic-book district for instance.

Anyways. The videogamedistrict is AWESOME. Tons of stores. Most of them filled to the bursting point with PAL stuff, retro stuff and import stuff.

Stuff seen in the flesh in MAY 2003:
Tiger striped NGPC
Neogeo CDZ autographed by the Fatal Fury team.
Hello Kitty DC(pink)
White Saturns
Samba de Amigo w. Maracas(PAL set)
White Duo-R
NeoGeo AES
This is Cool Saturn
Amstrad GX400
Wondermega
Radiant Silvergun w. spine
Battle Garegga w. spine
Metal Slug AES(2K Euro)
and so on, and so on.

Plus thousands, and thousands of games for every conceivable system.

PC Engine and NeoGeo cart selections were especially impressive.

Not everything is super-cheap, but bargains can be found. Either way, the selection is bar-none the best I have ever seen, anywhere, and I have travelled extensively and lived on both sides of the Atlantic.

Wallet-overload every time!!! Much to the chagrin of the mrs. :)

The last free games I got were the ones I got from my Japanese contact - some PC Engine CDRs, Tokimeki Memorial (PCE), TokiMemo: Forever With You (Saturn), and Gradius AC (ROM hack turned cart) for the Famicom.

I do recall this story, however... I used to work for Publix Supermarkets, and one day I was walking a lady out to her car. Somehow, our conversation turned to the NES (which I told her I still had and played, which she found surprising) and then to the then-brand new N64. She mentioned how her husband had just bought one, and her mother-in-law had given them a few games for it. As it turns out, her mother-in-law had given them NES games, and she didn't know what to do with them - she didn't want to buy an NES, and she didn't know anyone that wanted them.

Anyway, as I was loading up her car trunk, she reached in to a box that was in the back and pulled out 4 NES carts. When I finished loading her car and closed her trunk, she handed them to me and told me to take them as my tip. Of course, I accepted them and thanked her.

What I got was - and these were in very good shape, although without boxes or instructions - Pro Wrestling, Tecmo Baseball, The Empire Strikes Back and Metal Gear. At that point in time, I had been looking for ESB and Metal Gear for a few months, so I was very happy to get those. he other two (although I didn't care for TB) were icing on the cake.

That was the best tip I ever got while working there, I can tell you that.

Well, I got a non-working copy of KOF'99 Dream Match DC from butta a while back then I got a working copy as my free title in a Funco Buy 2 Get 1 free deal.

*shrugs*

Oh, and I did get a couple of MVS carts for free (King of Monsters 2 and Fatal Fury Special) because the guy I bought some games from on eBay listed Samurai Shodown 4 and meant 3.

I just went by an expiring yard sale today that had converted to all 'free' boxes and grabbed two SNES titles loose- NBA Live '95 (please take this off my hands for postage or something) and something better- Starfox with the 'not for resale demo only' label, which is neat. Better than all the sports games with those labels.

Well, most of you are going to think I'm lying, but a very close friend of mine just gave me Z-Tack and Wall Defender (Bomb games of course), for FREE! I couldn't believe it myself. Not too shabby. They quickly became the highlights of my collection!! :o :o
