I'm scanning MD manuals at 300 dpi and uploading them to this folder on megaupload in an attempt to create an archive of Mega Drive and 32X manuals

http://www.megaupload.com/?f=NVQ0UJ3G

I just started this so there's not much up there yet. But I already have well over 100 games scanned, with more on the way. All that's left to do is up them to my folder.

I have most of the rarest games scanned already (not uploaded yet though) with the exception of WWF Raw because that game is frickin impossible to find. I got a great deal on some of the other Acclaim games though ($350 for Virtual Bart, etc) so I'll be getting those up later when they come in. Tetris manual I can pull from the Sega Ages disc. If you have manuals from Treasure games or sports games drop me a PM. I'm still missing a lot of games so feel free to PM me if you want to help.

Update: All Sonic games are up!
Update: All Phantasy Star, Shining, several other games with maps, are up
Update: Some more rare games up including Foreman For Real.

These are really great, I'm glad someone is doing this.

Are you planning on doing PDF only though? I'd really like to see just the loose images myself...I guess that's a personal preference.

This is one of those projects that absolutely needs to be done though, before every copy of these manuals gets beat up beyond reading. Thanks for doing this.

Yeah, just PDF.

Later on I'll be scanning my SG/MKIII manuals, I have quite a few of those too.

I wish it would give a date for the files... It does on my end but not for the downloader, it just kind of sticks them in there randomly.

Bombman I don't know how many you have, but in case you don't have them I could scan the japanese manuals of Dick Tracy, Landstalker, Shijou Saidai no Soukoban, Golden Axe II, Valis and Super Monaco GP.

And if you don't mind I'd like to see the japanese manual from Sparkster and Rocket Knight Adventures.

Many Thanks!

I suppose you wouldn't be interested in scanning the covers for MobyGames, would you? ;)

bombman

I already sold off a large chunk of them, sorry. I was thinking about scanning the covers but I figured you could just see most of them at gamefaqs.

Here's the Japanese Dick Tracy Manual:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IIQJ1ZJN

I will be uploading the Valis manual soon, I also have the manual for: Honoo no Toukyuuji Dodge Danpei (Serial: G-4076).

Take a look at the Dick Tracy manual and tell me if it is good enough, here is how I scanned:

1. Scan at 300 ppi in PNG.
2. Resized to half the scan size.
3. Saved at JPG (90% quality).

bombman
10-27-2009, 04:28 PM
Don't resize it, you'll notice that I haven't resized any of mine

Also upload in PDF format if possible, I do have Acrobat but I think most scanners have the option to save in PDF

Also I don't have Dodge Danpei, thanks I'd appreciate it if you gave me that one too.

2. Sonic The Hedgehog
3. True Lies
4. Puyo Puyo
5. Vampire Killer
6. Jewel Master
7. Ransei No Hasha (I posted this on a certain page so yeah)
8. Divine Sealing
9. Verytex

I am doing this for you Sega fans out there so I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I do. Even if you can't read them I guess you could still look at the artworks.

Thank you!
I for one love looking at the artwork and comparing it to the in-game graphics. And I'll never understand why all the effort was put into the JP manuals when the console was so much more popular in the west.

I know right.
There's a trolling meme on 2ch where they link to a survey (http://japan.internet.com/research/20090311/1.html) that asked what consoles they play nowadays. Mega Drive being the least popular with 15 votes.

Soon the 32X section will be complete. I ALMOST missed out on NBA JAM, that one's a total bitch to find just like WWF Raw. But I got it now.

bombman
01-24-2010, 06:41 PM
This is the last time I'm going to post in this thread, most of my hits and support are coming from 2ch so I'm going to keep it on that forum, no one here actually ended up contributing to this.

I will be updating the Mega Drive folder on MU until I'm completely done, so have at it if you're interested, the 32X library should be completely finished by the middle of February, Mega Drive library should be finished by... the end of the year probably, and after that I will start adding Mega CD games which will complete the project.

And finally, I have now started the folder for Sega SG-1000 and Mark III games which should have close to 50 games by tomorrow. I will be working on the Mark III games as a priority so that it will probably be finished no later than April as long as I can find a few of these games I'm missing. Also if anyone could post an SG-1000 game list it would be helpful.
http://www.megaupload.com/?f=A9SE2MC5

Edit: Okay fuck SG-1000 games, because, like, nobody sells them. I'll be posting the ones I do have though.

On a related note, I am planning to put Game Gear games in this folder
http://www.megaupload.com/?f=DS6E5WDN
but there is nothing yet.

I won't be doing Saturn or Dreamcast games simply for the fact that Radiant Silvergun manual is impossible to scan.

Thank you.

Thanks I appreciate the help.

As it turns out hardly anyone in Japanese forums cares about the Sega things at all, although they enjoy the Tengen manuals because they written in an interesting way. But everyone is asking me for Super Famicom manuals.

I'm going to stop getting MD games now because I really want to start concentrating on the other systems and this is taking way too long since I have gotten virtually no help. When I first made this I thought I would be getting at least some contributions but besides you and one more guy I haven't gotten any help with this at all from anyone and scanning these takes up a lot of valuable time. In the meantime however I have been getting some more games by myself and I am pretty much satisfied with the way my collection is now.

So with that mind, I still have about 70 Mega Drive games left to scan and put up and this will take a long time. When I first started doing this I was on break and I could do this all day but now I'm really busy with work again so this could take a while. After these manuals are done, that's it for Mega Drive scans.
