I was surprised that I couldn't find a thread yet for Forza 3. What are your opinions on the game? My observations so far:
+ Quick upgrade is great. I can't be bothered with choosing every part seperately, it just automatically bolts the best stuff to your car to bring it up to the maximum allowed PI.
+ New menu system is much better. The FM2 one was loading a lot, the new one only loads once and browsing cars for example has become a lot faster, since they're not displayed as 3D models anymore. Generally, browsing the menus has become a lot easier as well.
+ Driving physics still feel great to me. Nothing beats the feeling of taking a corner really well in this game!
+ The way the right stick is utilised for looking around in cockpit view is great.
+ New career mode is a good idea, I prefer it over the old system from FM2.
+ Most of the achievements are pretty easy.
~ The game has become a lot easier. I'm driving with all assists off and manual w/clutch, and I'm getting around the corners pretty well (although I had my problems with the R3 class, maybe it gets more difficult here)
~ Earning money has become easier. I remember having to save for upgrades in FM2, now I've always got enough money left to buy a good car and fully upgrade it.
~ The new tracks are interesting to drive, but some do look pretty crappy (Amalfi especially, I think GT4 had a better looking example of Mediterranean looking towns)
~ Although I didn't want to at first, I find myself using the rewind feature more and more. Argh :(
- The HDR effect is way too strong and seems unrealistic.
- Graphics still look very sterile. Cockpit view is boring and bland (no textures or very low-res ones), no shifting animation, the driver hardly turns the wheel. Cars in the rear view mirror are missing shadows.
- No motion blur or anything. It doesn't feel like I'm driving real fast. NFS:Shift handles it so much better.
- I wish the cars were in their original countries state. There are BMWs with right-hand drive or ugly US-versions of cars like the Rabbit.
- No odometer.
- Damage models are basically non existant. There is some minor geometry deformation, but mostly it's just a dirtmap layed on top of the car.
