what are the various models of cybikos?

Two models: Cybiko 'classic' and Cybiko Extreme. 'Classic' is of course the first version, has a craptastic D-Pad, I think 256K of RAM and 256K of ROM, and serial interface for connecting to PC. Cybiko took sugestions from users of the Cy Classic and made the Etreme; double the RAM and ROM(or maybe a meg of each), much better D-Pad, larger keys, and a much faster USB link to the PC.

Neither model has a touch screen, you select programs with the D-Pad, and enter data with the keyboard.

There are several colors of the classic.

which is the best?

You'll want one of each. The Extreme to run programs, and the classic to run the WAP PC link that lets you use the Cybiko to browse the 'net wirelessly(up to 300 feet, and you have to connect the classic to an internet capable PC). Also, there is a homebrew client/server to chat on IRC wirelessly

what games and apps are available, commercial and hobbyist?

http://www.cybiko.com/ has several thousand programs/games for free download for the classic (which the extreme is compatable with most), and a few hundred for the extreme. There server appears to be busy right now, so I can't give you exact numbers. Several fun games, and a few usefull apps.

I can't find a working link in my bookmarks for homebrew, but there was a pac-man clone and a few other games, in addition to apps like a VT-100 terminal program made by homebrewers. Cybiko released there SDK for free, so anybody could start programming for it.
