Just picked this up today. Imagine an RPG mixed with WarioWare Microgames. An Evil Lord has discovered a destruction spell that - once cast - will destroy the world in 30 seconds! You must stop him in that time. If you do, you have problems because he shared the spell with 100 OTHER Evil Lords who are also lining up to cast the spell.

There are four different RPG "games" in the package:

Hero 30 - Plays like an overhead RPG where you cross the overland screen, fighting monsters and visiting villages for supplies, while trying to reach the castle and the evil lord within.

Evil Lord 30 - This is an overhead strategy game where you summon your monsters to go into battle for you.

Princess 30 - An RPG shooter where your archer and her soldiers must fight their way...yadda yadda...

Knight 30 - You play a knight on an endless "escort the noble" mission across the lands, defending her from... You get the idea.

The game is designed to look and play like an 8-bit NES RPG...only 1,000 times more frantic. It takes a bit to get used to the controls (RPGs are usually a bit more slow and methodical) since the action is insanely fast. But it's well designed and a hoot to play. And there are more than 100 levels to the entire game (I'm guessing 25 missions for each "character") and the box says there is more than 20 hours worth of play here.

I'm enjoying this game so far. Im about halfway through Hero 30. I've always enjoyed RPGs but often haven't had the time to play through them so I think this game has a fantastic premise. It pulls it of well too. I read reviews in which Princess 30 was said to be boring but i completed that mode and had a blast. I've only play 30 seconds of Evil Lord 30 yet so no real impression there.

Picked it up on a whim over the weekend, and I absolutely love it.

Not very far in yet but I can see this one being a huge time-sink for me when I'm away from my consoles.

I picked this up too and ABSOLUTELY love it. I'm 4 or 5 sections into Hero mode and a couple into Princess mode. It's fun as hell, hilarious, and just plain good.

I'm *way* late to the game (it's been four months since release!), but I really, really like it. So far I've only touched the Hero 30 mode, but I love what I've seen so far.

That first time through i was like "what the heck is going on" - the pace is *incredible*. But it fits within the concept of the game itself and by the 2nd or 3rd go through I felt like I totally got the hang of it.

I feel like if it was a DS game this thread would be massive, but as a PSP game there's just not enough of us to keep it afloat!

It's a fun game but people keep saying its an RPG when most of the game is not even based on any RPG. Evil Lord 30 is an RTS and Princess 30 is a shooter.

The only thing I don't like right now is Knight 30 is locked and you can only play it if you progress fairly far into the other three games. For me, Evil Lord 30 is extremely challenging and I'm stuck only a couple of levels after the Time Goddess first appears so I'm just stuck in general because Knight 30 is locked.

Love the music and the dialog is hilarious.

I think it's an awesome game. I've only played Hero 30 though. I'm at the end of another game on my PSP and have wanted to finish that off before putting a lot of time into another game.

I thought the game was pretty good, well I thought Hero 30 was pretty good. Evil Lord 30, Princess 30, and Knight 30 were all garbage IMO. Hero 30 was so good though that I'm willing to overlook those cheap cash-in modes.

I've been talking about this game for a while, trying to figure out what the name was. It seemed like an interesting concept. I'll try to pick up a copy this week and see what it's like.

I'm about halfway through hero 30 and I've played a few levels of princess 30. Overall, I think the concept is great, and its very fun WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING. But see, since the actual gameplay sequences are so short, while the cinematic sequences are so long winded, I feel like I only spend maybe 30% of my time with the game actually engaged in gameplay. There are so many breaks to the action that its really frustrating. In addition, the gameplay itself is really easy on the normal difficulty, so I don't feel challeneged at all.

All in all, its a great concept, but it needs some refinement. These issues I listed really kind of detract from the fun. Its a shame because this has soooooo much potential.

GAH! I need to find my PSP charger. I got this game for Christmas but haven't gotten to try it yet. I'm generally a sucker for new-retro releases though, see Retro Game Challenge, Final Fantasy IV: The After Years and 3D Dot Game Heroes so 30 Minute Hero was a natural attraction for me.

AND I WANT TO PLAY IT!!!! :(

Some of the Hero 30 ones can get a bit longer because there's the Goddess of Time who restores time back to full which is needed in order to complete some missions.

Even then gameplay is generally only extended to 1 minute 30 seconds before the level's over. Not that much play time before I'm forced to talk to the people in my caravan for no apparent reason.

One thing I wanted to mention is that some of the soundtrack in this game is composed by the legendary Yuzo Koshiro (Y's 1, 2, and 3, Legacy of the Wizard, pretty much all 80's Falcom games, as well as Revenge of Shinobi, the Streets of Rage series, Actraiser 1 and 2, Super Adventure Island, and many other great game soundtracks). As such, the tunes in the game are pretty great at times. Another reason to check it out for those who haven't yet.

GAH! I need to find my PSP charger.

Go to Wal-mart and pick up the Universal Energizer AC/DC Adapter for PSP and DS/DS lite. Wall or Car, it can charge both a PSP and a Nintendo DS at the same time. $9 bucks.

I've never heard of it until I saw Steam's sale today (it's 10% off)

Does anyone know which is better, the PSP or PC version?

The PC and 360 versions are the exact same as the PSP version except they offer a new graphics mode that looks like ass. You can still go back to the 8bit graphics though, so doesn't matter what version you pick up. The PC and 360 versions are the only ones that have trophies.
