Has anyone out there ever beat Star Wars Arcade for the 32x?? I love the game but it is in my opinion very hard. I can usually make it up to the Death Star surface...and I might have gotten to the final scene once...But it is too damm hard..Does anyone have any tips or cheats that might help me??

I've never beat the extended 32X mode, but a friend and I playing the Y-Wing did beat the regular arcade mode once, and only once.

Beat it a few times as a teenager. These days though I really suck at the game, but still love it. One of my fav 32X titles. Glad I have it in my library. I honestly dont remember there being any cheat codes for the game to tell you the truth.

I love the game, but the difficulty is far too hard for me to beat. Super 32X mode is the more difficult of the two, especially that trench part.
There is a invincibility/unlimited shield cheat code in the game, but there's no way to access it save for Game Genie. The code was disabled.

The only "cheat" I remember is a 2-player game... if I remember correctly, player #1 does all the flying and the "main" shooting while player #2 only controls a crosshair. I remember using a light chair leg to keep the fire button pressed on controller #2 and just picked a random spot where it constantly fired. Lots of enemies would get destroyed just by sheer accident. I think the two player version also gives you two extra shields.
I THINK this is correct... we played the crap out of this game and we never beat it, either.

-Timer Restart
Pause the game and press:
Left, Down, A, C, Down, Up
If entered correctly, you will hear a noise.
-Timer Stop
Pause the game and press:
Down, B, B, Up, Right, Left
If entered correctly, you will hear a noise.

Ironic because the original Star Wars arcade games were so easy.

I never came close, but I didn't play it much after I bought Shadow Squadron.

Shadow Squadron FTW.
I wanted to like Star Wars Arcade on the 32X, but the difficulty of said home version and the fact that I never got to try the original arcade cabinet killed it for me. An easy mode would have made it so much better, though I did make my way through the arcade mode once or twice. Not terrible, but not great either. OP is right on the money. The game was too hard for its own good. Steep learning curve. Decent enough looking, so-so sounding. Could've been incredible I'm sure if it had more time/possibly better design team.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, touches the Atari vector arcade game on the actual machine with the actual vector monitor and yoke controls. Sit-in (which I've experienced less than 10 times in my life) is the ultimate. Transcendental.

Remember, this game is based off of Star Wars Arcade by Sega, not the Vector game by Atari.

Played the CRAP out of the game in the past. I just wish that there were other great titles such as this one that kept my attention for the 32X back in the day. It was a bright spot for me and the 32X, and I never did beat it.

Well Aware. I've never played the Model 1 version, but I'm sure it's leagues better than the 32X game. I was just expressing that playing the sub-par 32X version makes me reminisce about the excellence of the Atari original.

Yes, I beat this game many times. The trick I use is, when I am playing by myself, I'll still start it up in 2 player mode and then hold down the fire button on controller two. It gives enough of an extra range of fire that it's helpful.

I love Admiral Akbar's voice in this game.

beat it with a action replay code on real hardware,
my old post from the tototek forum
real 32x will work with a real pro action replay.
for all the other 2 people out there that care
all you have to do is solder a few wires
and plug the 32x unit into the action replay.
there are some traces that are not complete in the action replay cart
you just have to finish the traces. i have 8 wires soldered in.
i have tried vr racing and it worked.
space harrier locks up.
so some games will work some wont .
there may be a way around the ones that dont work.
just tried star wars it works also.
i did notice the sound is lower on the right side in some sounds and music.
it seems to be the sounds the 32x generates and mixes with the genesis.
so now i need to find what pin is the right audio on the 32x where it plugs in to the genesis video game slot.
now where did i write the code down at...

I played the arcade game a LOOOOONG time ago in Disneyworld or Disneyland. Can't remember which of the two it was, I think it was either at Star Tours in Disneyland or in Tommorowland in Disneyworld, one of the two.
But anyway, all I really remember about the game was that you had to shoot down X amount of TIEs. And that it was hard. And from a video I've seen the graphics look much better but stuff like the explosions similar in style.

It's an elusive one. I've played the superb Model 3 Trilogy many, many times, but not the Model 1 version. I need to see about emulating it.
