I'm thinking of getting another arcade game for my house, since I sold my Robotron 5 years ago and have been looking ever since. A friend of mine pointed me to an Asteroids cocktail in good shape, all shopped and complete, for around $350.

It's been 6 or more yeares since I priced games and I'm wondering if this is a decent deal or not. Also, I remember there being talk that the Asteroids sit-down is a pretty rare cabinet. Is this right?

Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

$350 for a fully working cocktail is a great deal.

Dang, wish you would have mentioned it earlier. A thrift I know of in Irving had a Zaxxon in it for weeks, for $99. It needed some work, though. Unfortunately, the last time I stopped by, there was a sign on it that said "sold". :(

No. The Asteroids cocktail table is one of the most common. But that's still a decent deal if it's been completely shopped.

Agreed. A working Asteroids that has been completely serviced is worth $350. Only if it works 100% though.

For $350, it needs to be near mint. Asteroids cocktails aren't anything special.

Do you have any specific games you are interested in? I may be paring down my collection a bit. Mostly projects, but I have some ready to go that I might part with.

the only game that I want (and I lose sleep from selling mine 5 years ago) is Robotron. I loved having it here and I'm ticked that I don't anymore.

Understand completely. I'm building a Multi Williams in my Joust so that I can have it. Might not be a bad way for you to go as well. It's certainly cheaper than trying to track down a nice Robotron.
