Famicom to NES converter

I am looking for a game cartridge converter to play Famicom games on a NES console and I cannot for the life of me tell if this is the right thing.

It says 72-60 pin which, to me, sounds like the opposite of what I need yet the pictured item has a ribbon attached which is a sign that it was for a NES console to pull out of the push down trey. Any thoughts? Is this the right thing?

you need a 60 to 72 pin, or you just buy one of famiclones they sell at the mall that has a n64 controller, they accept famicom games but not nes

Yes, that in that link is what you need. That narrow connector on the top (compared to the bottom) is the smaller 60-pin end for the Japanese carts. Kind of pricey aren't they... I have a Honey Bee Converter, but got it from a local place that didn't know its value so it was only $5. Don't have any Famicom carts though, and I've had the thing for like a year now, so... well, whenever I do, it'll be much cheaper to play them than it otherwise would be. :)

Although it also came in disk format, Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa is a pretty good Konami platformer for the Famicom, it starts out easy enough and doesn't get overbearingly difficult, but it is a pretty fun game. The cart version though doesn't have as rich a sound as the original disk version, otherwise it's the same game.

I have an extra converter here that I could get you, but O believe the mailing costs are just not worth it.

Anyway, when you do get one, get yourself a copy of Gradius II. One hell of a nice game. Oh, man, I really miss my copy... :bawling:

I agree on this one. The only other system you can play Gradius II on is on a Japanese PC Engine or a TurboGrafx-16 with a PC Engine converter. The Wii Virtual Console release of the Japanese PC Engine version is available, but not the Famicom version. I played thru the game on modded Xbox and it was great and made me want the original game afterwards. I still can't find it.

At the risk of incurring Arkhan's wrath...with the converter you aren't gaining the ability to play disk games (not a really big fan of 'em personally) and you lose the extra sound channels.

I got the original hardwired controller side slot style. Only the second one I have ever seen in my life too. First one had the disk system and all the cords for 30 bucks but I had no money at the time. My heart also sunk when I found out that they had thrown out a big box full of nintendo disks.

Geesh, didn't know Gradius II wasn't on the NES, I picked up the Famicom version on the cheap locally a few years back, will have to fire that up again and enjoy :)

It's like Street Fighter 2 meets Mega Man - in all the good ways that could mean. Graphics are weird but awesome.
