I have a 1001 model and I want to finally screw around with it and put emulators on it and crap like that. Can anyone explain how to do stuff like that or knows of any guides that are understandable to someone with little experience with that type of stuff?

That's a great tutorial. Much easier to follow than the messy threads on psp hacks. Looks a little out of date though since it doesn't cover the new Gen-A custom firmware but it should give the OP a good start.
Is there an easy to read site like that for Wii hacks?
