Hey everyone,

I recently sold a game through CTC. Buyer paid via USPS Money Order. A while later (a little over a week), the money order arrived. I then sent out the packages a few days later.

Everything seemed great.

Today, the package was returned to me. It has a label that states:

"RETURNED TO SENDER

MOVED LEFT NO ADDRESS

UNABLE TO FOWARD

RETURN TO SENDER"

Here is a picture of the package:

I know I have to contact the buyer, but I decided to seek advise for whatever situation may occur when I contact the buyer.

Any advice of what may happen or what to do? I admit, I'm new to this, so any advice would be great.

Thanks guys. :)

Oh, and by the way, the address used to ship the item to the buyer is the same one he provided in both the letter and the envelope (the one used to send the money order).

Does the address you used match the address on file with CTCW? If so, tell them you'll be happy to send them the game if they pay for shipping again, or offer a refund minus what shipping cost.

If not, you should have clarified which address to use. In this case I'd offer to split the shipping charge (same goes if they want a refund).

Hey Cornelius :)

Just verified, and yes, it's the same address listed on Chase the Chuckwagon.

That's a good idea on the refund. I rather just ship the game back to him, as I am pretty sure he would love to play it. But since it seems he moved, I'll wait until Monday morning, just in case.

Thanks for the tip. :)

Aww, it isn't a sealed game then? ;) Well I agree with Cornelius on this one. Good luck.

This doesn't really need to go in OT.

So what exactly is the problem? Contact the dude on CtCW and tell him that the package was returned. Hopefully you'll get another address (or ask for a work address) and reship. I don't see any reason for a refund yet.

This happens to me occasionally. It's pure laziness on the point of the buyer, as they 1) didn't update their address anywhere online and 2) didn't put in a forwarding address at the PO. Filling out a forward form literally takes under a minute and there is no excuse to not do this. I think you can even do it online now, making it even easier. Make sure the buyer pays for shipping before you mail anything again.

Whatever the outcome I would say you did your part in getting the package to them. If the buyer wants the package they either pay shipping again (you could cut a deal and charge actual shipping if you did not) or I like the above mentioned idea of a refund -original shipping if they do not want the package.

Well, the buyer says he will send over $3 (via money order) to reship the package.

Part of me wants to simply send it and get it over it.

But now I think it is now best that I limit payment to Paypal only. That way, I can have immediate funds to reship in case something like this happens.

He's mailing a money order for $3??? I'll never understand why people will waste money by paying for envelopes, stamps, and money order processing, but refuse to sign up with Paypal. I hate Paypal as much as anyone, but there's no excuse not to use it.

And OP when I get a package returned on ebay I just contact the buyer. They usually respond back fairly quickly. Except for one Zelda: OoT that got returned this summer I still have sitting here.

Sounds like you have a Zelda: OoT to sell!

Yeah I used to be one of those buyers. Maybe they don't have a bank account or a credit card, or don't have the latter, and don't want to link the first choice with their paypal account.

Every time this has happened to me on eBay(4 or 5 times) I always wondered about what to do, afraid that they'd want me to pay shipping, leave negative feedback, or whatever. I'd always email them telling them their address was wrong and ask what they'd want to do. Each time their response was basically "woops, my fault. I'm resending the shipping amount now." I think it's the fact that they are slightly embarassed by their mistake that they don't even possibly try to blame it on anyone else.

Sounds like you have a Zelda: OoT to sell!Yeah, just got around to relisting it and sold it.

In the end the returned package worked out well as I got $14 for selling it the first time, then $10 plus $6 shipping to Canada (I make 4 bucks extra off canadian shipping cuz it only costs 2)
