Damn, you beat me to the punch. I'll wager (insert noun) 64 is a fair bet.

Blurry Mess 2

Blurry Mess 2 wasn't as good as Blurry Mess 1. With the older technology the original mess was blurrier, which made the title make more sense. Blurry Mess 2 was still a blurry mess, but the graphics were tightened up to "slightly recognizable", thus lessening the impact of the first game.

But don't you like Blurry Mess 9, where they use Blurry Mess 1's Graphics?

Looks like some Nintendo 64 game.

Is this like a "name this game" game, y'know for fun or do you need help identifying it?

That word on the upper right of the screen, memex, means this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memex). Ummmmm.. and I'm not entirely sure if that helps.

and....

But don't you like Blurry Mess 9, where they use Blurry Mess 1's Graphics?

Blurry Mess 1 and 2 are really fun, but as you get up to Blurry Mess 6 it becomes kinda clichéd. Blurry Mess Legends 1 & 2 are my favorites, though, even though their maker, Crapcom, was criticized for bringing the Blurry Mess series into the world of 3D gaming.

(Going too far with the Blurry Mess joke?)

Personally I liked Blurry Mess RPG, though the menus were difficult to navigate.

...there was a Blurry Mess RPG? Maybe it was a Japanese release only.

I think he's talking about the Blurry Mess Battle Network games. There's like 20 of them.....

Speaking of Blurry Mess, has anyone played Blurry Mess Soccer? I've heard that it was really bad, but I like the idea of being able to play soccer with all of our favorite Blurry Mess characters.

In all seriousness, this is the most vague screenshot I've ever seen. It could literally be any N64 era game. (I'm guessing some shitty PS1 shooter game, in fact)

I'm actually surprised it's harder to name a game with an actual screenshot being provided, compared to the usual somewhat vague descriptions that are normally given without any screenshot.

I have no idea what that is, I wasn't big on games from that era. They all seem so forgettable to me.

Though this gave me an idea for a game that could be played somewhat like the Mystery Game. Instead of Blurry Mess, it can be Drunken Slur. Have some dialog that's from some game but distort it so much it sounds completely drunk and unintelligible. Then make people guess what game it's from. It's a perfect contest.

I'd wager from the cliched cyberpunk look that it was Burn: Cycle.

It's R-Type, can't you see the R-9 stumbling along after a fight with the Bydo?

You're right the first was better, but part 2 wasn't any slouch and I still have some fond memories of it.

I recall the opening sequence where you and your partner were going in that place. After about 45 minutes of just trying to make my way in and the creepy tension building up I remember seeing something come dancing (literally I thought it looked like some form of the electric boogaloo) in front of me and I fired away madly but I could never really tell if it was dead or if I had even hit it, I must have looked at it for a good 10 minutes until I fairly certain it wasn't moving before going on.

..An hour later I finally reached the next area I couldn't go on because I had apparently killed my partner and got game over. :( Whatever it was I saw really seemed like it might have possibly had some hostile intentions!

So yeah, still a great game!

Now that you mention it, yeah...it probably is Burn: Cycle, but it's much more fun to speculate on it being a part of the Blurry Mess series.

Maybe it's Blurry Mess Legends...kinda bothered me how different that was from every other game in the series.

The people who guessed Burn: Cycle are correct. I appreciate that the image was quite blurry, didn't want to make it too easy :)

It's Amidar. Everything is Amidar, regardless of what the OP says.
