I have had this game in my collection for some time and I am going through to catalog. It is hard to catalog a game you don't know the name for. Thanks for your time.

Majikaru Hatto No Buttobi Taabo! Daibouken
Edit: It was also released in the US with different graphics as Decap Attack.

Thank you for the quick reply. Upon looking up Decap Attack (which really looks quite different from this game, except animation style and similar character) I was able to learn a bit of history about this game. "Magical Flying Turbo Hat Adventure", what a funny name.

I owned that for quite some time, but just never got into it (and by extension, its US makeover Decap Attack). Nor did I ever get into any games that featured the same style of gameplay: Psycho Fox and Kid Kool. I like platformers and all, but those just didn't work for me.

Likewise, none of those seem my cup o' tea. Or ghoul juice, whatever.
I also noticed that the middle kanji in "daibouken" (the boxes) is like the right-hand radical in the first kanji for "hat" (帽子). Of course, there's only so many radicals, but I wonder...by itself, the kanji 冒 means "brave" in Japanese. Could be a sort of pun though. The 巾 and 冒 don't make much sense in Han, but there I can sort of see a connection to the concept: head covering / turban + brave or risk - therefore, brave turban!

I remember it being listed as "Magic(al) Hats (or Huts)" when it was new, and game magazines were full of import store ads.
