How many people is this game holding up from completing their psx collection and is this game really that rare or is it blown out of proportion

It does seem to be quite rare. It took me a few years to track down a copy for myself and I've only seen two get traded into the game store where I work. To put that in perspective I've probably seen 50 or so Suikoden 2's come in and an equal number of Valkyrie Profiles, Ogre Battles and probably around a dozen or so X-Coms, Discworlds, Raiden Projects and other obscure games. It's definitely a tough one to find.

I've got it complete but only because I've found an empty case and traded for a scratched up disc-only copy. I think it's pretty rare though. I've never seen one in the wild before.

Let's put it this way, when it came out, I called Midway and even they didn't know where to find a copy. I found one eventually through a distributor here in Los Angeles, but it received a very, very limited retail release. I don't know of any major retailer that carried it.

Wow, I knew this was uncommon, but didn't know it had a limited release. I've had 2 copies through my hands in the past year. Paid $3 for one of them and $15 for the other.

It's rare. Always has been. In my years of hunting/buying (even when PS games were in all the stores being sold used/new), I never saw a copy of it and I spent ALOT of time in stores looking over PS games all over the Bay Area. The one copy that I owned I bought off eBay and I gave it to a friend as a gift.

@ 98PaceCar Next one you find, I call dibs!

There was one factory sealed for sale on Ebay about 2 years ago and surprisingly it didn't go for much.

I had been looking for Team Buddies for quite a while around the time EB began their clearance of PS1 stock. I've never seen a copy in the wild before or since, but in the span of 3 or 4 days I found 2 disc-only copies at the same EB and a complete copy at an independent store.

I never really knew it was rare but it sure isn't common.
I was fortunate to have a friend who bought it when it came out. Pretty good game at times, especially with a multi-tap.

My brother bought ours when it came out new. Only copy the store received. Well worth the purchase. Very fun.

I have probably close to 400 or so sealed PS1 games and this is only the second copy that I have ever seen sealed for Team Buddies - so to answer the initial question, yes..it's really, really tough

its sad really, that it is such a rare game, because in my opinion it is really fun. The comical storyline and lots of unlockables combined with great multiplayer potential make me wish it wasn't a limited release with no sequels. That aside, its kinda nice to find out you have a collectible unintentionally. I got the game for a birthday when it was still fairly new.

Great point - It really is a super fun game to play - guess it's one of those great games that just saw limited release - Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Saga etc...
