Stereo sound to Mono

I've got a tv that only supports mono sound, so it's only only got the white rca jack on it with nowhere to plug in the right sound cable. Because of this some games don't have sound when I move to the right side of the screen.

Are there any cables that convert the stereo jacks to mono?

Although this is secondary to my problem, what would be a good TV for retro gaming? I'm using a 19' Samsung tube TV and I love it. It's got no overscan at all and the picture is fantastic. The only problem I have with it is the fact that it doesn't support Stereo sound. Anyone have any suggestions as to a good tv that's about the same size just with Stereo?

It wouldn't be just a cable because you need to actively mix the signals with a powered circuit. Though I'm positive you could buy a simple audio mixer, you could also build one pretty easily too. Here's a simple schematic if you wanted to build your own. It really is about as simple as a circuit could get. Just get rid of the input 3 ressitor and capacitor for a 2 channel mixer.

Probably a much better option though would be to simply run your stereo signal into an actual stereo system if you want both channels. And it would actually be stereo then as well.

Any CRT TV would be ok for retro games

When I used to use a mono TV, I just used one of those dual audio to single audio cables they sell at radio shack. It's more or less a reverse splitter. Never had a problem with that.

Yeah come on man just go get yourself a cheapo Y stereo-mono adapter of whatever it is at the local Radio Shack.

OK, it looks like you can use a passive Y-type cable but it's more than just a splitter in reverse, so don't try doing that. There are ressitors in it that won't be in a splitter. There will also be signal loss dong it this way. I still say get a small cheap stereo system to use with the TV. I see them all the time at Goodwill for $5.00. Then you'll get nice stereo sound the way it was meant to be heard and won;t have to worry about getting a different TV set.
