I finally cracked it open (well unscrewed it and slid the PCB out) to take a pic, figured I'd share.

It's a really early glitchy as hell version of Mutant League Football. I've had it since I was a kid and the label was one I'd made for it, so I took it off. I got it in a box with a Super Game Boy and some other SNES stuff.

You have had it since you were a kid?! I wish I would have had some protos when I was a kid.

Did you ever have the opportunity to dump the chips? If they're socketed (which they appear to be) I could easily dump it for you if you wanted.

Cool proto. I've always loved the Mutant League series as a kid.

I never dumped it, no. No idea how to.

I'd be happy to sell it/trade for some games or send it off to be dumped if you've got people to vouch for you.

I know a few people at http://hidden-palace.org would be interested in dumping Genesis prototypes.

And I remember Mutant League Football. That was sweet. O:

I've dumped some prototypes in the past both for myself and others:
http://www.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=35&threadid=20492

One of the prototypes listed was a SCAT prototype owned by Masonsushi. It was dumped and returned without issue.

Mark would be my twin brother, and he and I dump together (yeah, I just wrote that).

If the chips are socketed I would not only dump it for you for free, but also pay shipping both ways. That, and I would gladly release the rom in any fashion you'd like (ie just send you the rom, post it on numerous sites, etc.).

I would love to buy and trade for it, but I don't know if I'd have anything you'd be interested in honestly. I would be content just making sure it's backed up honestly.

I (along with some friends) will be reproducing/releasing our second prototype "Kitty's Catch" later this month. If i were to screw you over on a single Genesis prototype, I would be in turn screwing myself over losing potential sales through the community.

Shoot me a PM if you're interested in working something out :rocker:

Anyone have any devices they'd recommend for dumping?

Anyone have any devices they'd recommend for dumping?

Any EPROM programmer.

-Pop out the chips
-Dump them in programmer
-Re-seat chips
-Combine the two files

Viola!

You could get a Genesis specific dumper, but why bother?

Evan showed me this SNES/GENESIS reader, I'll look for that again.

So I guess that's a no as far as me dumping the proto is concerned lol?

Those readers are good, but do you think it would be worth it to buy one instead of an EPROM programmer? They do pretty much the same thing, but the SNES/Genesis reader would be much more limited in it's capabilities. Your best best would still be an EPROM programmer.

Do you have any other prototypes to dump, or would it be just this one?

Removing chips and using an EPROM reader is pretty overkill when a USB reader can read pretty much any game you throw at it. It is cheaper and easier! I dumped a couple of my SNES prototypes with my Mash Mods reader, along with a ton of regular games.

A decent EPROM reader is going to set you back no more than $150, and it can do a lot more than just dump SNES/Genny prototypes. I think it would be a better investment in the long run, that's all.

I have a USB reader that I use for games that have soldered EPROMS, but I use my EPROM programmer when the chips are socketed. Either way, as long as it gets dumped I'm happy!

Actually wait a sec, I do have access to an EPROM reader...

I haven't checked back here in a bit. . .

Did you ever get the chance to dump the rom?
