View Full Version : What's a good price for a banned XBOX?

Ok, I have never had any intention of buying an xbox 360, but with so many being banned I might just pick one up for my daughter for Christmas if its cheap enough. She'll never need it to go online and she'd just get the biggest kick out of having it in her bedroom. Plus to keep her happy she would only need about 3 or 4 new games a year.

So for those of you whom are familiar with this system what price should I shoot for?

I'm seeing that there are over 30 listed on Ebay right now that are letting you know that they are banned, who knows how many that don't tell you.

Also, is there anything else I should worry about the system if it's banned besides that it won't let you go on line.

Thanks for the help

Around 80 and up I would say but factor in the system has no more warranty.
Also check you local craigslist, there are plenty of them there.

I'm going to check if any work buddies have any they want to get rid off. Going to offer $40 for it. LOL

Almost all of the Craigslist ads around here are offering them for $60-$70.

The only issue with a banned console is that it cannot connect to Xbox Live - the console MAC address has been banned from the service. Everything else should function as normal. The only other thing I can think of is that the person who modded the console, if it was a hardware mod, may not have done a good job with it. I would try to find a software modded console if you have a choice.

Ive been looking for one recently. Most are software or hardware modified, which makes the deal that much sweeter. ~$70 is the going rate for modded 360s that are banned at the moment.

Ms does more than just banning.

Wow...I did not know that they could disable HDD features with the ban. That must be new. Previously, they just banned it from Xbox Live.

So what does that mean you cannot install games to the HDD? Alot of the auctions I'm seeing say the HDD is not included.

If I just want to purchase a Banned Xbox 360, and purchase new or used original games, will I run into any problems?

Cannot go on Xbox Live.
Cannot install games to the HDD.
Cannot use Windows Media Centre extender.
Cannot be used to get achievements from backups without corrupting your profile.

All in all I would just buy the arcade 360,its only 200 bucks and plus you get a warranty.

Aren't people going a little too crazy over this? I have to imagine the pirates... I mean "homebrew community" will find a way around this. They almost always do!

I recently bought a banned 360 from Ebay for $80 plus $10 shipping. I saw some for as low as $55 plus $10 shipping, but it was for only the bare console with nothing whatsoever included. I decided to pay a little bit more to make sure I got one with HDMI, and to also make sure that it had a more recent build date, and had never had the 3RROD. The one I got came with the power supply, a wireless controller and the audio/video cable.

I have been seeing them as low as $50 or $60 or $70, but typically that's just for the bare console itself, and alot of them don't have HDMI. Also, alot of them say they have had new X-Clamps installed or whatever, which tells me that they have already red-ringed and then been repaired, which is a bad sign, imho. The one I got had a build date of late 2008, and never had the 3RROD which I think is very important. I would have rather found one with a build date of 2009, but wasn't able to, and figured this was a good deal.

In hindsight, maybe I should have offered the guy a bit less money. It was a Buy it Now auction for $100, but it also had the "Make an offer" thing. So I made the offer for $80. I should have tried even lower and seen if I got lucky. Oh well. This one is going in my kids room, and it should work fine for them. They just like to play stuff like Kung Fu Panda and the Lego games and stuff like that, so it should work out ok for them. I will need to get them a memory card or 20 gig hard drive just so they can save their games. I'll try to find a really cheap memory card or hard drive at some point.

Make sure it's a Jasper 360. If it's not the chances of it RRODing are over 50% I've had 2 360s and EVERY friend I know that owns a 360 get the rrod on a non jasper model. Since I've gotten my jasper I've got no rrods and the chances are much much lower.
