Hi everyone, sorry to resurrect this thread... looks like it's already been resurrected a few times anyway. :)

I am the lead developer of this production, and yes, it has taken way longer to bring to a close than we expected. And yes, I invited Policenaut to come check it out, as he's pretty close to our place, though nothing ever did come of that. You're still welcome to drop by!

Over the course of the last two days, myself and Keranu gave the game its final confirmation test run to ensure that it was indeed finished. We ran into a few hiccups which were quickly corrected... terribly obscure bugs here and there that were never caught during the beta test. I'm working on a minor revision to one last game event right now, and after that's done, I will give it a test run to ensure that it works 100% correctly. Once that is completed, the game is finished at long last. I will be burning it to CDR tonight and sending it out to the pressing house either tomorrow or the day after.

Yes, this is based on the original Mysterious Song for MS-DOS. It adds new areas, an entirely new "second quest", a completely overhauled soundtrack, and animated, voice-acted cutscenes that weren't present in the original. In keeping with modern "unlockables", it also has a complete armory, bestiary, and gallery, as well as a hidden bonus game for those players who are hardcore enough. :)

Hah, I sound like an advertising amateur there. :) Well anyway, the game really is real, it really is done, and it really is going to manufacture.

EDIT: The last revision was finished without issue, and the game was officially promoted to Gold. It's ready. :)

Yes. Starting tomorrow, I'm going to start sending emails to every individual who ordered to confirm their details, and then a mass email when the shipment arrives in Illinois to let all customers know that the product has arrived. Discs will be shipped by order date, so those who ordered first will get shipped first. No shipping shortcuts either; we want to make sure things arrive in pristine condition.

I had also taken pictures of a rough draft of the cover art that I had printed out and put in a case for Dalder... I'll see if I can find those pictures. The finished artwork hasn't been shown on paper yet, only in digital form.

They were an April Fools joke. Not only was the game file a joke, all of the music files included in the zip file are jokes too. They include things like smoke alarm noises and random burping and farting sounds.

They've been posting updates on facebook here and there. Last I remeber, they were having trouble with the masters copying correctly, or something like that. I think they were making some progress, but check it out for an update.

What was happening was a miscommunication within the manufacturer; the customer service people weren't very adept and weren't communicating to Keranu what the real problem was. When the check disc was ordered, they sent the wrong damn game... Keranu got a copy of Insanity (Aetherbyte's game from a couple of years prior) rather than Mysterious Song. So they had to do a second check disc, which worked just fine (after having their arses chewed out by Equuskia). Ultimately, it took three sets of master discs to finally get one that was not only robust enough to be usable but also had the correct track layout to pass Eclipse's rigid rules. But it's all over with now... the manufacturing is done!

Huh. That's sort of cool. Is the 'Super CD-ROM System' an actually thing? I'm assuming its an unofficial Turbographix-16 CD machine.

"Super CDROM System" refers to the System 3.0 version... either the original CDROM hardware with the System 3.0 card or the TurboDuo/PC Engine Duo. :)

It plays like Dragon Warrior/Phantasy Star. You get up to three party members. The main quest from the original game is comparable in size to Dragon Warrior/Ys. There is an extended section/super dungeon with extra story and ending.

There are voice acted cinemas similar to 16-bit CD RPG games. Many unlockable bonus features including a very special mini-game.
