Im a collector of NES and SNES games, but as my collection is nearly complete I've found myself looking at saturn games on ebay. The problem is that I know very little about it and sega in general. I have a small Genesis collection that is growing slowly but for some reason I find saturn more appealing atm.

So I need some advice on what games I should be looking up. As I've never played any saturn game before I have no nostalgia for them so the games should be good by todays standards. I've done some research looking at the vids on this site http://www.segagagadomain.com/retro_core__info-sss.htm which have alot of great tips and info on shooters. I like all kind of games so the genre dosen't matter much.

I've been playing NiGHTS Into Dreams lately. It's a great game but you definatly need the 3D Controller.

Hmm..great Saturn games...

Let's see...first and foremost is Nights into Dreams; that's pretty much the best game on Saturn as far as I'm concerned.

Others that should be puchased (although some are not exclusives):
Alone in the Dark
Astal
Bug! (series)
Burning Rangers
Clockwork Knight (series)
Daytona USA
Fighters Megamix
Panzer Dragoon (series)
Policenauts
Rayman
Resident Evil
Shining Force III
Shinobi Legions
Sonic 3D Blast
Sonic Jam
Tomb Raider
Virtua Cop
Virtua Fighter (series)
Virtual On

I'm amazed by the length of my list, and the scary thing is that this doesn't include imports. That's why it's a shame that the Saturn doesn't get more love; there are a LOT of good games for it.

Don't forget Bust-A-Move 3. The only console port Bust-A-Move 3 ever got was on Saturn.

I've been playing Shinobi Legions this week and thoroughly enjoying it. My son and I are going to play Die Hard Arcade tomorrow. We played it in the arcades and thought it was pretty fun. Hopefully, the Saturn port will be good.

I really like the Saturn, but you need to look to find the great games on it, especially in the US library. These are some of my favorites:

NiGHTS into Dreams (This is the Crown Jewel of the Saturn, it's one's a must have)
X-men: Children of the Atom
NBA Jam T.E
Sonic R
Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams
Sonic 3D Blast
Tempest 2000
Marvel Super Heroes
Burning Rangers
Rayman
Virtual On

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

"We have covered the 'Top 10/25/50 games for Such-and-Such system' threads to death. So much so, that we've stickied each on-going discussion in the Classic Discussion area so that everyone can see what the "Best Game Are" just by going there and reading up on DP member suggestions. We even ask folks to continue discussing them and make new suggestions/debates as the occassion arises."

So, here are the Saturn Recommendation threads already in progress:

Top 20 Sega Saturn Games (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1509&highlight=saturn)

And just in case someone wants to know about imports:

Top 50 Sega Saturn Import Games (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6422&highlight=saturn)

And in case you think I'm being a bit of a dick:

From the FAQ:
Check before posting 'Best Games for System'
Before posting a 'Top Ten Whatever' list, please check the Classic Discussions forum, as it probably has been touched upon in the past. Build upon that old thread, as the new one *will* get locked down and referred back to the original topic. (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/faq.php?faq=basics#faq_bestgames)
