What do you guys think this lot is worth? I know punisher is a really rare genesis game for some reason but aside from that and gunstar heroes i really don't know much else.

Punisher really isn't that rare. The tattoo that comes with it is. These are pretty much all loose and the condition is a bit lacking, not to mention the Gen3. I'd say no more than $1/game plus $5/system.

Yeah, aside from Gunstar Heroes you can probably get $20-25 for the lot.

Gunstar Heroes can go for $20 by itself though.

Double Dragon is a bit rare, though yours is pretty beat up. Streets of Rage 3 is also a bit more valuable compared to most commons. Contra Hard Corps and Sonic and Knuckles seem to be good sellers too. Genesis 3 systems are usually a bit more in demand than Model 1 or 2 systems for some reason.

I counted 37 games, so I'd say it's worth about $100-$150 considering the condition of some of the games, possibly more if parted out. I don't understand why most people are saying it's worth less than $50 for the lot, it must be terrible to sell games where you guys live. Usually if I would be selling Genesis games in a lot instead of individually, I'd bundle around 12 non-sports games together(or just 1 or 2 sports games at most) with a system for $60 and it would sell. Sometimes I would get people asking to part out the games which I'd do as I'd ask $5 per game anyway, and I'd still get to keep the system so I could make a different bundle later.

Genesis has no value at all. Even less when the carts are loose. It also has the least desired for playing Genesis system as well. The condition of most carts leaves a lot to be desired.

Spending anymore than $50 is ripping yourself off.

Here's a lot of 46 loose games that sold for $66:

I think it's unfair to say that Genesis carts have no value. Many of them don't because they were mass-produced. Look at the NES. You could say they have no value b/c so many of them are worth $1 or less. And you'd be right but you'd also be wrong. There are plenty of expensive or valuable Genesis games, including cart only. MUSHA for instance. Shining Force 2. Herzog Zwei. Granted there aren't as many expensive titles for the Genesis as there are for the NES or SNES. That's because there's not as many of them and not as many "rares."

Having said that, there's about three or four games in that lot that are worth $20 or so and the rest aren't worth much at all. But I couldn't identify a couple of them.

Gunstar Heroes
Streets of Rage 3
The Punisher
Contra Hard Corps

Are all worth decent money, I think from $15~20 apiece. In a lot, tho, probably not more than $10 each.

Plenty? Aside from MUSHA, which somehow became a $100 CIB game, the Wisdom Tree games, Crusader of Centy and thanks to his MJ's death, Moonwalker, nothing gets above $50 CIB. This is also with a system with a library of over 700 games.

It's extremely fair to say Genesis has no value. When I collected the full set 4 years ago, the prices on the expensive games were higher than they are now. Pirates Gold and Shining Force 2 has gone down in value by half.

Not loose. That's the killer with Genesis. It was much easier to keep the boxes so a loose title loses a lot more value than most cart systems. You'd be lucky to break $10 a piece for those 4.

There is more than enough proof out there that a lot like this, considering the carts are loose and in general, poor condition, that the $1/game is a fair price.

You guys say the Punisher isn't worth much, but when I got a cart only with the label ripped halfway off, it sold on ebay for $45 BIN within the day.

I actually buy bundles of games for more than that, I bought a bundle of around 14 games(most complete or boxed) with a system for $60 just to get Contra Hard Corps. It seems I'm willing to pay more for Genesis games than most people.

And when did I say any of those individual games were worth more than $50? There's 37 games there, I know a lot of them are worthless titles but the games that are worth something are worth at least $100 together. I don't really think loose carts are worth too much, but $5 each for good titles is plenty fair. That's what loose carts sell for at my thrift store for some reason, and they do sell. Some loose carts should be worth $10 no problem. If I spend enough time looking I know I can find those games cheaper than $5 each, but I also sold a loose Gunstar Heroes for $10 so I know that some games are worth that much. I really don't think Herzog Zwei is worth all that much, maybe $10 for a loose cart at the most. I didn't know that Crusader of the Centy would be worth that much though, I wouldn't spend that much on a copy.

I don't get why so many people bother selling with ebay, some things are just worth more locally. Someone locally was planning to sell off some strategy guides so I offered to buy a couple of them, he thought I didn't offer enough so he just ebayed them instead. He got less than half of my offer for both of them, yet claimed I lowballed him which is why he ebayed them. Yeah right.

He got less because he did an auction. If he did BIN he probably would've gotten more than you offered him.

Anyone who does auctions on ebay is stupid IMHO.

Uh, I wasn't talking to you.

The difference between your thrift and DP is here on DP, we're trying to stretch our gaming dollar. In the case of this lot, versus other similar lots, it makes no sense to pay $100 for it. The best price for the OP is a $1/game. $5/game is insanity for our situation.

I asked him what he wanted for them, he insisted I make an offer because he didn't know what they were worth(that's what he told me anyway). I only found out he put them on ebay when I ran into him on another day, I then checked how much the auction was going for. They were separate auctions and each one only got one bid and sold for $0.99 each. I didn't see any other copies for sale on ebay, just on amazon which usually has stuff overpriced if it's old and not for sale in stores anymore. I didn't think I lowballed at all.

He probably could have got more like you said, but it's interesting that you said that since I didn't mention what the guides were or how much I offered for them. Thanks for saying I didn't offer enough though, apparently they were worth more but sold for less for some reason.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but the original poster has this lot he wants to sell and wants to know what it's worth so he can price it. I'm assuming that since he has a bunch of photos of everything and just linked to an online album rather than an ad. He could get more than $1 each if he wanted to sell it as a lot. Plenty of people I've dealt with only want to play the actual games and don't care about them being complete or even being in good shape, as long as they work and are originals it's ok with them. Maybe I'm wrong, is he actually planning to buy that lot?

I know that you didn't aim that $50 per game remark at me, but I assumed that had to do with why you thought I overestimated the value of the games, that none of the games were worth over $50 each so they were all worthless. I apologize if I was wrong with that interpretation.

He doesn't say either way and he hasn't replied since. I guess we scared him off. Oops. :P

I could swear ive seen a loose musha before, had no idea it was rare. In any case i'm offering $50.00. Ide say that's fair.

For the record i'm buying this just to resell in my ebay store as single listings and did a number crunch and figure I can make at least $50.00 and double my money on the lot. From what you guys are telling me anyway.
