I love Falcom as a company and have been waiting for a few of these games to come to the US(actually, all but Zwei and Vantage Master Portable.)

Legend of Heroes Sora no Kiseki all three chapters look amazing when it comes to gameplay. I'll pick them up because aside from the bad translation, I think the three Legend of Heroes games we've received are great games.

Ys Chronicles 1 and 2 is an obvious. A PSP port of the best of the Ys remakes. Ys 7 looks AMAZING. I've wanted this game since I've seen it.

Finally. Brandish was never a favorite of mine, but the gameplay is unique and it's an altogether good series, so I do hope this one is released as well.

Soon, Gurumin, you won't be alone anymore. If only the PSP version of Ark of Napishtim didn't suck it'd have been earlier.

According to a financial report from Falcom, the company will be attempting to boost overall sales by releasing a bevy of titles on the PSP in North America. This suggests an increased possibility of some of the following titles seeing Western release: The Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki First Chapter; The Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki Second Chapter; The Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki The 3rd; Vantage Master Portable; Zwei!!; Brandish: Dark Revenant; Ys Chronicles I & II; Ys Seven.

Given Falcom's track record for Western releases, news of its added financial incentive for bringing more titles stateside should be encouraging to fans. The publisher is unknown at this time.

Awesome, but I somehow doubt these will get UMD releases. :(

I'd love to be proven wrong.

Great. Brandish is worth checking out because Falcom completely redone the game into true 3d environment. It was released in Japan a while ago. The original SNES got me confused with orientation.

Good to hear. Are they going to localize them by themselves or hire a publisher? Cause I hope they strike Bandai Namco from that list thanks to the the horrible translation on the LoH games. Crossing my fingers Atlus works both Ys games.

I'm curious as to why you don't care for Zwei!! getting localized? Personally, I find it the most interesting of their recent PSP titles (more interested in it than Ys VII even).

I live and breathe Falcom! They are one of the old, classic, companies that still know a thing or two about making great games. I used to feel the same way about Game Arts, but they have really started slipping with the last generation of systems.

Back to all things Falcom, I don't have a PSP, but I have purchased all of Falcoms US released games for it. If these other Falcom games get a UMD release in the States then I will finally have no choice but to go out and buy a PSP! And I REALLY hope they get released!

Gurumin being one of my favorite 3d action games and Zwei 2 looking exactly like it and playing a lot like it, it's just that I was disappointed when I found out that the first one was the one that was ported to the PSP and not the second one.

I'm sure the first one is good, but hoping we got the second is the main reason I didn't really care about the first once I heard about it being ported.

*edit*

Also. If anyone picks up Vantage Master Portable. Give a review on that. It looks and sounds like it's okay, but I dunno. The PC version is free but I don't really want to take the time and download it as I hate playing games on the PC.

If these get UMD releases, I'll buy em, otherwise I won't touch em :( I HATE digital content....

I would love to see Dragon Slayer 1-4 redone on one cart/disc/whatever. Falcom hasn't touched these oldies in centuries.

That and 1, 2, and 3 never got English localizations, which would be pretty easy.

Still no word on this yet? Very disappointing. I hope we hear news on who Falcom is partnering up with to publish their games soon.

Starting this summer, Falcom’s suite of PSP games are coming to North America care of Xseed. The two companies worked out a deal that gives Xseed exclusive rights to Ys and The Legend of Heroes series. Falcom sounds ecstatic about the agreement.

We are ecstatic to partner with XSEED Games on multiple new releases, said Toshihiro Kondo, President of Falcom. Their passion and reputation for working on outstanding RPGs is in line with our own development philosophy and assures me that our fans in North America will be getting the best English versions of our games possible.

Six titles from the partnership have been announced: Ys SEVEN, Ys:The Oath in Felghana, Ys I & II Chronicles, and The Legend of the Heroes: Trails in the Sky trilogy.

Ys 1 and 2, Ys 3, Ys 7, and the Legend of Heroes Sora no Kiseki Trilogy. Like I said at Siliconera, XSeed gets my vote for publisher of the year. Sorry Sega.

I could care less about the Legend of Heroes series since they are horrible RPGs IMHO and the other bland looking Falcom games but I'll most definitely be looking foward to Ys Chronicles and Ys Seven.

I wish they'd remember their roots and the Dragon Slayer series. I know they've released Japanese PC versions, but some of those have never even seen English translations, and they aren't even super-complex.

EDIT: crap, I didn't realize I said something like this in the thread already back in the long ago time.

Nice to know. I was about to buy the JPN version of Ys: Oath in Felghana. I can wait.

I'm getting all six games. I hope they release Brandish sometime later as well as I'll pick that one up also.

You forgot Oath in Felghana. That's being released here as well.

Also. While the Legend of Heroes games that we received(Tear of Vermilion, Song of the Ocean, and Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch) aren't amazing games and received terrible localization, they're average atleast decent RPG titles. From people who have imported the Sora no Kiseki trilogy, the games are much better.

Sora no Kiseki SC is also one of the first games on the PSP to have a dual UMD release. I thought it was the first when I saw it a long time ago but supposedly wrong information and there was another game that came out first with two UMDs. Maybe it'll still be a dual UMD game when XSeed releases it to the US.

This is certainly good news, but one can only wonder if UMD releases are soon to come.
Digital or not, these games would still be great buys. I've always wanted to play Y's 1 and 2.

Are these still coming? I'd buy em all in a heartbeat... I even loved Tear of Vermillion...

I finally read the XSeed interview at RPGamer. Questions were pretty good and the answers that XSeed gave us were far better than those you get from most developers "we can't comment, blah blah blah."

According to the interview, they've actually been in talks with Falcom before XSeed was even a company. Also got some general release dates. Ys7 is going to be the first released and it'll be out this summer, Ys3 near the end of the year, and Ys1 and 2 and Sora no Kiseki FC early next year. SC and TC aren't going to start localization until the first one is finished, so I expect SC late next year and TC the year after?

Sora no Kiseki SC may actually be a dual UMD here in the US as well, atleast according to the interview. Here's hoping.

RPGamer What about Sora no Kiseki SC? This one was two UMDs for the Japanese release, have there been efforts to trim that down for the North American version?

KB To be honest, Sora no Kiseki FC is keeping our hands full for now so we haven't even thought about how to tackle the larger SC yet. We've never trimmed any of our previous releases before and don't intend to start anytime soon, but you may want to check back in with us in about a year on that one...

Here's the full interview for those who want to read it. There's also a Falcom interview at Siliconera, but not really as great of an interview. This one really gives us all the information we're actually interested in.

This is pretty good news! Although I have Ys I & II and OiF on the PC and still feel they are prefect (with the added English patches and the Chronicles music added in Complete), it'll be nice to play them on the go....as long as XSeed fixes a few problems in Ys I & II Chronicles first..

Now I hope those games don't get cancelled in the end. Sony is notorious for giving publishers of niche games a wicked hard time with releases. If that wasn't the case Working Designs would still be in business.

Unfortunately, I think there is a strong chance we won't ever see some of these games released, particularly the titles scheduled for 2011. PSP game sales have been very, very lackluster in the past year and unless Sony really pulls out some huge surprise at E3, I can't imagine that niche titles of this type are going to sell enough to cover localization costs and other publishing expenses going forward.

I'll be really happy if only Ys Seven out of all the promised games does get a NA release. I really don't care what happens to the other games. I can just hunt down the Japanese PC versions of Ys I&II Complete and Oath and download the English patches for both.

I'm really hoping they bring these over. I've been wanting to get into Ys I & II, but I don't think my chances of finding a copy of the original and a Turbo duo are very good.

Ever since 2008, PSP software releases and sales have been in the toilet. I expected the thing to die off last year but all of a sudden niche publishers like NIS, Atlus, and XSEED started throwing us a bone along with the usual Sony release here and there. I think the Ys trio will make it to us no problem, it's the Sora no Kiseki trio I'm worried about.

Ys7 gets a collector's edition for $50, regular game for $30. Either way you're getting one hell of a deal. They overprinted on the Lunar collector's edition and eventually I picked it up for $20. I'd like to be able to get the Ys7 collector's edition for cheap, but also don't want to miss out on getting it.

Who am I kidding. I'm getting the collector's edition day one. Lunar was a game I didn't care about getting the collector's edition or even the game itself. This is.

Xseed has two flavors of Ys SEVEN for North America. Vanilla game and juicy limited edition.

Their Ys SEVEN collector’s edition contains a soundtrack CD with over 20 songs, a 12.5” by 34” cloth map, and a 60 page artbook that covers Ys SEVEN, Ys: The Oath in Felghana, and Ys I&II Chronicles. There’s a PSP game somewhere in there too. The premium package costs $49.99, $20 more than the game alone.

Ys SEVEN is slated for release in “late summer”. Amazon pegs it for August 31st, thanks Cevian! Before the game comes out you can be immortalized in it. Xseed is holding a naming contest where fourteen Facebook fans will be quest-giving characters in the North American version. Details for that are here. New English screenshots are below.

The Y's Books I&II were pretty awful on the DS release. If they DO remake them for the PSP, I hope they spend a bit more time on them. As far as Y's 7... That's a pretty hard game to ruin. Hopefully it makes it here.
