I've had my 360 for about a year. That's what I heard the going rate for it was.

Anyway, I popped in the disc for Sonic's Ultimate collection and it took much longer than normal to load the game.

Another problem I've had is with loading sonic unleashed. I put it in and it took me to a screen that said something like "to play this, insert disc in an xbox 360." which was friggin weird.

And the last thing is that I loaded a game into the disc drive and it said "play dvd" instead of "play game" wtf?

Is my drive going bad or is it something else? Anyone know?

Do your discs have large smudges or scratches near the center of the disk? That will affect the ability to read the disk.

If that's not the problem...sounds like your DVD drive is starting on the way out. The DVD drives are the second biggest area of failure that I've seen on Xbox 360s, and not covered under warranty.

Thanks! Something else happened today when playing cod:waw. After reaching a checkpoint and dying, the game went to its loading screen and pulled up an error message saying that my save file is corrupt or something like that. I'm not sure if this is caused by the same issue that was described in my first post, but if it is, this aint looking good.
