Oh Dire 51 ...
You rang? :D

I have to admit, I was a bit baffled by licensed shoes, until one of the regulars over on the West Mansion forum (http://z4.invisionfree.com/The_Third_Moon/) pointed this out to me:

I had no idea, until I started working at Journeys, just how intense the kids these days are about their kicks. They take that shit REAL seriously. Moreover, I had no idea 'til I started up there how much of a hipster store Journeys is....it's like the"cool" store in the mall. So this is actually a very savvy marketing move on NB's part.
Personally, I thought Namco would have been all over other licenses (comics, toys, cookware) than shoes, but when he put it in that context, their move makes perfect sense.

That said, I won't be getting a pair. My feet are too big (by only a size, but still), and I can't see forking out $70-$80 for a pair of shoes I'll never wear. I will, however, archive all promo materials related to them on WM.

Now, if Namco sends me some for promotional purposes, that's different. :D

Oh, and as it turns out, Namco Bandai has released a new batch of screens and artwork to go with the official announcement: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/61368

I done bought em :) Could NOT resist...plus they come with a free shirt! Woot! Hope they fit well....I wear between a 9.5 and a 10.5 depending on the make and they only had 10s left in stock. I wonder how many pairs they even made?? Can't be a ton....

According to the sole of my Chuck Taylors, I wear 11s. Close call..but those babies will NEVER show up here, and I'm not importing them...oh, well :(

Earlier this year I bought two pairs of Nike SB shoes over the Internet and paid ~$100 for each pair. One was a pair of low top 720 Shoes (same color scheme as the arcade cabinet ... they're very 80s and very ugly!) and the other pair was a pair of high top Boba Fett edition Nikes (olive green, maroon, and gray). Bought both of them in a 10.5, which is what I've worn for 20 years now. For whatever reason, both of those pairs of shoes are just a tiny bit too small.

A year or two ago I bought a pair of black boots with blue flames and they only had full sizes so I got an 11. They're so big that they slide around and kill my feet when I walk in them.

I should stop buying shoes over the Internet ...

LOL

Hey maxlords, mind posting a review of your shoes once you get them? I'm very curious about how good they are.

I bet Rick would just rip the toes off his pair, like a real man. That's what I should do.

Wait, I'm sure Rick didn't go buying branded shoes; he probably made his own out of the hide of that fetus monster.

Apparently Rick is wearing Globes in the new game. He's even been spotted kicking the Screaming Mimi/Deathnoid replacements in the junk with them (http://splatterhouse.kontek.net/11-24-09_1.jpg).

Of course, that's the new Rick. The original Rick would have yanked them off his feet and shoved them straight down the throat of the first Deadman to cross his path. Then he would have ripped off the Deadman's head, pulled them back out of the gaping hole that used to be its throat, moved on the next one and repeated it all over again.

Why do you think he never wore any shoes on the original games, eh?

lol I forgot about the chain, that's pretty GANGSTER

what's with new game devs being completely tone deaf about the style of the classics? Eh.

I don't know. All I know is that in Splatterhouse's case, I've been trying my best to steer them back. It's worked to some degree so far, anyway - I got Biggy Man changed back to the classic look.

This begs the question......why kick monsters in the junk when you can rip them limb from limb to goo?

Also...why do monsters have junk? Do they breed? Or are they magic monsters and the junk is solely there for heroes to kick them in? They look kind of gender neutral to me. I mean....I can't see a monster like that chillin' with some Barry White or Marvin Gaye and scoring with the ladies...

And does this mean Splatterhouse is actually gonna be LESS violent than the originals? That's kinda weird in this era of mass desensitization....

Eh, it's probably intended to be funny. Maybe it's a throwback to Wanpaku Graffiti. *shrug* As far as I know, the gore and violence is still present; Namco's been going on about how they're going pretty over the top with this. I guess we'll find out next year.

Remember the chained-up zombie women from the arcade game?

Oh...that hurts...
