Hello,

I just bought a PS3 this morning at Game Stop.

Game Stop is having a "Black Friday" only deal: Buy two used games and get the third used game free. Is there an abundant amount of on line gamers for these PS3 games listed below?

My games list:
Unreal Tournament 3

Resistance Fall of Man

Resistance Fall of Man 2

Socom: Confrontation

Gran Trusimo 5 Prologue.

I would like to buy this games so that I can play a lot of on line multiplayer battles.

Thank you for the help! I need replies before 8PM because that is when my Gamestop closes.

I wish I could play online with my PS3, but my internet connection won't allow it.

Unreal Tournament 3: You would expect there to be a lot of players, right? Well there certainly aren't. UR3 hasn't been multiplayer mayhem since...3 months after it's release.

Resistance (2): I'm not sure about the first Resistance, but the sequel certainly has A LOT of players online at all times.

Depends on what you mean by "abundant", or what kind of answer you're looking for but ...

Certainly there won't be AS many players online with their PS3's as 360's just by way of there being more 360's in the marketplace/homes. (Though with the 1,000,000 console/XBLA membership ban, the numbers are likely a bit closer now, especially considering that a percentage of 360 gamers aren't interested in paying $50 for onlne play - or playing online at all.)

There are plenty of PS3 users that game online, the service is free, it has Wi-Fi right out of the box (so in some cases it's more conducive to setting up for play in a house where running an ethernet cord to the system isn't an option) and devs haven't gimped online vs. 360 in any game that I can think of the way they would back in the PS2 vs. XBOX era (Wii tends to get that treatment more these days).

Even on 360, some legacy disc-based and XBLA titles are hard to find online players in these days ... it's really going to be a case of how long any game's "community" keeps playing.

You should have no trouble finding players online in key titles like Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, Battlefield 1943, Street Fighter IV, Burnout Paradise, Buzz, etc. there's ALWAYS TONS of people populating every section of Home ... all you really need to do is pop into Home and ask "Anybody want to play (game x)?" and you'll inevitably find somebody to add to your friend list who has that game.

There's even a Socom area in Home where you can plan strategies in a war room and then launch directly into games with other users.

The games you listed are all 1st party, so it's not like you'll have any problem finding matches in those.

I'd also suggest snagging Warhawk, you can probably find it for less than $15 and it has some of the best online gaming on the PS3.

Allow me to me reiterate: If I buy those games, what are the chances of me finding a on line game in the games respect server menu?

I ask this question because I have been buying quite a few PSP games with "on line play" just to find that no-one plays the game, or the company shuts down the game servers for their own game (cough... Ubisoft Rainbow Six Vegas). Thank you for your help and suggestion. I may look into Warhawk.

Maybe not "mayhem" but at least it does have dedicated players who come back to the title. It's not abandoned just not played quite as much but it is a "come back to title" cause in alot of ways it's hard to beat, the mods also help and it is possibly to find a full server and when you do it's always a blast.

Servers are still up for all of the games you listed, even Resistance 1 AFAIK.

It's a game... Demon's Souls. It has an online component of sorts, and there are plenty of people playing it right now. Game is hard as hell, but there are people out there playin.

Unreal Tournament 3 in Deathmatch almost always has atleast one rooms that is almost full whatever game type you play. It also has a second that has around six+ people. You'll also find Instagib matches that have alot of people, but Instagib sucks(one hit kills with a sort of crappy version of the shock rifle.) In Vehicle Capture the Flag you'll usually find one room completely full and then others that are lower. Duels are pretty easy to find, also.

Demon's Souls is mainly offline, but it's got an online experience better than most others. Playing through the game you'll see ghostly looking figures running past, attacking, etc. Those are the other players who are also playing the game and it actually really feels like you're not really playing alone, even when you are. A really big aspect of Demon's Souls is also the ability to summon phantoms, dead players, to join your game and help you defeat the stage, or being attacked by black phantoms(again, dead players.) The black phantom battles are by far the most fun in the game whether you're a black phantom or the enemy is.

I'd assume the others have a lot of players as they're, like Frankie said, first party games. I wouldn't bother with GT5 Prologue if I were you though, especially when GT5 is coming out soon.
