Manuals and cases for disc-bsaed games (sans disc) seem to crop up relatively frequently. But how exactly does one go about getting a box and manual for a loose DS game these days?

Well, I'd be referring to original boxes here, not replications.

Well, I've got game-less copies of Animal Crossing, Pok Diamond, and Sims 2. Does that help?

I got them at a garage sale (w/ 4 or 5 others that I've since completed or traded). Some lady had them and the woman running the sale just said to take them, they're free. The lady's jaw dropped until she realized the games weren't inside, then she didn't want them. The woman running the sale was about to chuck them in the trash before I stopped her. All were complete w/ pin codes and in mint shape... pretty clear they were opened just the one time to remove the games, which her daughter had taken with her to school. I tried to talk her into keeping them for her daughter, but she just wanted the room emptied, so out they go.

Occasionally you can find them on Ebay or Amazon. It's the proverbial shot in the dark, but it's worked for me once or twice.
