Lunar Eternal Blue (Sega CD) 36
Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) 20
Contra Hard Corps. (Genesis) 17

None of the above. Find yourself a copy of Shaq Fu quickly! The value of this game is going through the roof! Not only that, but it's got an engaging storyline and deep play mechanics that put all games released after it to shame.

What condition are they in?

What kind of games do you like to play?

Can you handle playing through a 40 hour RPG twice?

If those are all complete and in good shape the prices are fair. Do yourself a favor and get all 4.. It's that time of year ya know!

I would go for the Lunar games.

The other wo games can be easily gotten (somewhat) later on. The Lunar games usually fetch higher amounts, at least from what I've seen.

If the Lunar games are complete, you should have bought them already. If you don't like them, you can resell them for double the money. The other two games are awesome fun, but they're not as rare or worth as much. Good prices if they're complete, though. But it's easy to pick them up at that price.

gunstar and contra

the sega cd can play 'backups' and there are better versions of the lunar games on the PSX

I'd say that if you like the games Lunar and Lunar 2 are worth getting. Not a fan of Lunar myself but I'd pick them up. Gunstar Heroes is worth getting definitely.

Contra Hard Corps isn't worth getting. It's a decent game, but there are better.

I'd say Gunstar and Contra for sure. The Lunars are great games but honestly, the PSX versions are WAY better. That being said, Gunstar Heroes IS available on compilations and DLable, so if you had to pick a Lunar....well....it's a toss up.

I personally would go for both Lunar Games. A lot of people seem to really like the PSX remakes but I thought they were horrible. They made too many changes, and not for the better IMO. I will always stick by the Sega CD originals.

Contra and Gunstar Heroes are great but should be easier to find again if you happen to pass them up. So I say go for the Lunar Games.

They're all good. It's obvious which way you should go depending on what you like to play, seeing as you have one set of games that are completely different from the other set.

It's time to be a big boy and make a decision without asking the Internet what it thinks. Good luck.

This makes me wonder if the value of this game will go up if Shaq dies anytime soon. Look how Moonwalker went through the roof when Michael Jackson died. I just wonder if anything could make that game worth more than the cost of the plastic its molded out of, and I think that Shaq's death might just do it. Now all we need to do is convince Shaq to take up the hobby of 'shark poking' or 'aquatic toaster juggling'.

Well, this is in the wrong Forum. Surprised I don't see anybody pointing that out.

Second, Urzu, it's time for you to grow as a collector / buyer, and learn how to price things yourself. Set some goals for your game searches.

Are you interested in getting stuff to play? Then you'll have to decide what to look for.

Are you interested in flipping items on eBay? Then memorize game prices on eBay or something and figure out how much you can pay and still turn a profit.

Are you interested in getting a house full of random shit? Then do like I did when I got into the hobby and throw all your money at random garbage. The worst that can happen is you don't have any spending money for stuff that counts. Hey, it's just money right? ROFL

Bottom line: Focus, focus, focus.

Double?? Thats a stretch anywhere...both are averaging $20-45 complete on ebay all day.

Worth doesn't have to be a monetary value. Your simply changing the sequence of the words from "what is it worth" to "is it worth it" but it's essentially the same thing

Is it worth it means something completely different than what is it worth

And this is a question only you can answer.

If you think something is worth more than you'll pay for it...that's for What's It Worth and then you will have to ask "is it worth it?"

I'm not being flip or dismissive of your request, I'm just pointing out that none of us actually know what it is you want to get out of gaming.

That's why I broke it down into three categories:

You want fun games (only you know what's fun to you). You wouldn't be the first person to ask "what games will I enjoy," but it doesn't make it any better of a question,

or
You want to make money (that's fine but more of a "What's It Worth" question so you can compare what you'll pay to the suggested value),

or
You just want to collect a bunch of junk, in which case I would suggest just searching your change for old wheaties and silver nickels. Much cheaper and it still uses up all your free attention, but doesn't fill up the house as quickly as gaming junk does.

About a month or so ago they were going for $40 & as high as $80 respectively. The prices on Ebay now are all over the place (as far as completed auctions are concerned) with a high of $60 for Lunar: EB and a low of, I think it was, $8 for Lunar: SS. *shrugs* I didn't feel like looking them up when I figured they'd be the same or more considering it's the holidays. Kill me.

What are the differences between the playstation lunar versions and the sega cd ones???

Graphics, random battles, anime cutscenes, etc.

I actually prefer the random battles in the Sega CD versions over the battles you can dodge in the PSX version. Because given the option to dodge battles you may become far to weak and then have to start to grind at points. You'd still have to get in battles regardless, but atleast without being able to dodge them it'd be varied in that you don't have to fight them all at one time.

There's always the option you can choose to fight every battle you come across in the PSX version but if you're given the option to dodge battles on Lunar, wouldn't you?

DuckTalesNES

Is this different than another RPG though since in most you can just run away from battles? At the end of the day, leveling up is important and anyone sensible is going to do it. Having the choice to avoid a battle here or there only sounds like a good thing to me.

Get the Lunar games. They are way better than the PS/Saturn versions. The music on the Sega CD versions is amazing. The music on the PS/Saturn versions is just... extremely good, but not amazing.

All four are "worth shelling out for". If you can only get two now and two later, again, it comes down to what you're in the mood to play. If playing is what you're doing. At this point I don't think anyone knows what you're doing. Building a fort out of video games? In that case go with the two Genesis titles if they are complete. Sega CD cases are brittle and won't make for a solid supporting wall.

What are the differences between the playstation lunar versions and the sega cd ones???

Like Kupo and Breetai stated. The graphics are obviously a bit different between the systems. Also the Sega CD versions used actual hardware animated cut-scenes (Which I LOVE and miss the technique dearly. The classic intro to Popful Mail would NEVER be the same in FMV) instead of the Playstation's compressed FMV. The FMV actually looks pretty cool in Lunar 1 but looks horrible in Lunar 2 because they tried to meld it with CG and it clashes and looks very armature.

Lunar 1 has a completely different OST of which the Sega CD version is the better of the two. The Sega CD versions also have (MUCH to my preference) random battles and the PS version does not. That was enough to turn me off because it completely changes the feel of the game. You can't take a game and change an important core element and have it play like the same game.

But they took it a step further and removed one of the most unique features of the battle system. You could play the Sega CD versions and really see how the battle system evolved into the one used in Grandia, but you would never guess this from the PS version. The Sega CD versions had a very strategic option that would allow a character to flee from the monsters but NOT run away from battle. Using this tactic was sometime crucial to keeping a character alive. Sure, where your character ran was based on chance but it added a fun bit of strategy the spice up the battle system.

But, the complete sega cd cases look so much more intimdating and make for a faster build time. Ideally you want all of them to make two walls sega cd for an intimdating outer wall and and the Genesis for a secure inner wall.

If its a fort of all video games I suggest Neo Geo games thats as solid as it gets.

There's a logical way to decide what to buy, I suggest you use a random number generator.

Step 1: First assign each game a number.

1) Lunar Silver Star (Sega CD) 24
2) Lunar Eternal Blue (Sega CD) 36
3) Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) 20
4) Contra Hard Corps. (Genesis) 17

Step 2: Go to this website.
http://www.random.org/

Step 3: On the right side of the page, there's a random number generator. Set the minimum value at 1 and the maximum value at 4.

Step 4: Generate 2 separate numbers. Whatever the numbers are, match them to the games you listed and get those games.

I hope this helps.
