I don't have that problem and I have the Renegade, but I don't think the two controllers are at all different aside from the finish. Don't buy Renegade expecting a better controller, that's for certain. Those controllers are not designed or built so well as to never have problems.

I've only had the game for a day now, but I haven't experienced this problem yet and I've been mixing and scratching pretty heavily. :)

I just played my DJ Hero, and I've not had any problems.
It sounds like you have a short somewhere in your controller.

Alright I have this problem too and i googled it and this thread popped up. I found a few other threads that had a longer register application so i just didnt bother. From what I notice all the ones I found are after christmas so it could possibly be a batch of faulty controllers maybe?
Regardless paying 200$ for renegade may be a solution but if you would like to be a cheap skate, like me, you can make scratches that are just small enough to register to minimize this problem. Based on the fact that this exact problem is happening to multiple people just shows that its the companies fault. If I were you I wouldn't bother giving them any more money than they deserve.
Hope this helps.
