I've never had a console AC adaptor overheat. I have melted a $300 DFI motherboard though and that really sucked ~.~ Well, not literally melted since 7 layer PCB is so powa but all of the chips were dur butter X_x

Yeah I remember him, he seemed decent but went nuts because he was stuck with his stuff. That just happens sometimes and shouldn't be vented publicly the way he did it.

Where did you buy the adapter? If online can you show a link to where you bought it? It does sound like it's one that's also for the NES, in which case your system got broken because the NES uses AC power and the Genesis/Sega CD uses DC power. It probably broke the voltage regulator.

If you got a refund for the Genesis, why are you selling it? Throw it in for free with the Sega CD. A broken system that's as common as a Genesis is probably only worth the cost of shipping at the most. Most people wouldn't even bother to get a broken one unless it's free, and even then plenty of people would pass on it. Even the Sega CD wouldn't be worth much if it's broken. $10 total for both would be a decent price but even then you'd have trouble finding someone willing to get them.

The only way to play Sega CD games from a console on your TV using only one AC Adapter is a Sega CDX, JVC X'Eye or a modded system like regular Xbox.

Years ago when I hooked up my Atari 2600, the ac adapter would barely feel warm at all. Now when I hook it up, the ac adapter feels hot. I think it is because of global warming. LOL
