Has Anyone ever have an AC adaptor for an old system overheat?

I have it was so hot to the touch it felt like it could have caught fire anytime, it was a sega cd and sega genesis AC adaptor it was pluged into both of them at the same time, it doesnt help that the electricity went out when it was plugged in and stuff.....

I've never had an AC for anything overheat, although with how much heat was put out by the AC to my first laptop, I'm surprised it didn't. Still have that AC somewhere, because it works quite well with my NES, even though it puts out slightly less power...

Power adapters normally get warm to very warm when plugged in, I haven't really heard of any Sega adapters overheating though.

Oh, that's different. Most of those replacement ones like that are poor quality, so yes it's very possible that it would overheat. Stay away from the single power supplies that power several units at once.

EDIT, so I actually contribute to this thread: I've never had one overheat for a console. My laptop's, however, gets quite hot at the drop of a hat. My usual answer is to unplug it until it cools down. That's obviously not an option for a console, so I'd suggest trying to get my hands on some first party ACs, stat. (Presumably) unlicensed third party crap = stay away if at all possible.

Well, in ONE occassion my AC adapter did over heat. Later found out it was defective.

Replaced it, and everything was fine.

Also, if you use an adapter that is not of the same system, but the "specs" should work, it may overheat. This is why it is recommended to use the original adapter.

People here at DP are nice and friendly, believe it or not. Sure, some may get on your nerves, but depending on how you treat them, they treat you. Everyone respects each other here, no matter what.

It's a great community here, but do know that discussions on this board do tend to be on the adult side. When I frequented GF, I noticed the amount of useless topics and immature people, that it was insane. Sometimes, it's fun to fool around, but there are times in which you would want a nice discussion and not have some cunt ruin it for you with trolling, flamming, childish pranks, etc.

I feel you could be a valuable asset to the community, given the time to adjust. But for the time being, I would stay away from making topics and just read some of the existing ones. You will realize that things are much different here than on GF.

When I was new, I had to get used to things too. Not once I had any beef with mods or administrators, because I realized how things worked by looking around the boards. Yeah, I had a few discussions here and there with forum members, but nothing serious and all ended well in the end. It's how you portray yourself on the boards that determines the treatment you get here on the boards.

And if I recall correctly, Berzerker DID try to help out, by stating how things worked and giving you some good advice. You even replied by thanking him, if I am not mistaken. So the mods aren't going against you on purpose.

This is why I recommend closing this topic and just take a look around for a few days. And if you do post something worthy and some members are right away giving you problems, then I would contact the moderators or administrators. But I doubt this will happen, because people are are indeed friendly.

And no, I'm not a cheerleader for the mods. I'm just using common sense.
