I was watching the Home and Garden Channel, and they did a special on basements. They showed Eric Clayberg's basement of arcade games -- about 40 or 50 of them. Did anyone else see it? It was interesting, but not as big as John's in Wisconsin. Anyway, they are going to repeat it all night and probably into the week. It was cool.

Wow! I was gonna post about the same thing. I thought I was the only one to see it.

Was channel-hopping around midnight and happened to catch this show called "Incredible Basements". Was cool to see all the things people have done to their basement. The segment on Eric was last and as you said, pretty cool.

I wonder if he's active on the newsgroups/forums?

I saw it too.

Eric is an OO programmer that's been in the Smalltalk (heard of it???? :D) community for a long time.

I have seen him post to the arcade forums before. I'll have to send him a link to Digital Press and see if he'll join.

For those that may have missed this episode, here are some pics...

I've heard of it! Haven't tried it in quite a while, but did something very similar when trying to figure out Scheme when I was an undergrad.

Smalltalk was the language that made me look back fondly on the years I spent doing Scheme, and I despised Scheme...

After reading the posts from Eric on r.g.v.a.c the previous week about the show, his basement was a bit disappointing. Certainly more impressive than but just about everybody here, but really 40 games (another 10 in storage) isn't all that special among arcade game collectors. One of the other guys there in his basement during the show has more games. Again, I'd love to have that many games, but Eric's basement (and the train one too) didn't especially impress compared to what else is out there.

Are you John from Wisconsin? Because if you are, you have more games than that guy.

It was a pretty cool episode. I want to find the guy (not Eric) that said he would give anything for a Robotron. Anything??? I just don't think he has looked hard enough. :)
