How do you guys find room for everything?

Today I decided to test a 2600 woody that I had picked up, and it didn't work. Try it with another power supply I thought, so I went into my spare room(game stuff storage room) to retrieve my box of Atari VCS stuff, and its buried beneath other systems, boxes, games, magazines.....Its only a small room and there is now so much gaming stuff stored in it I can hardly get in!

Needless to say, I didn't fancy clearing out the room, and the woody went untested.

Where do you guys keep stuff that you are not currently playing?

At the moment, I have a load of systems set up in the bedroom ( the wife is not overly happy)....which is currently 21 systems running on A Sony 29" TV and 3 monitors. None of my pre NES systems are set up...If I want to play them I have to dig them out of the spare room and set them up, and some are seriously buried!

Looks like I'll have to start filling up the living room downstairs (which is chokka with my music gear!)

What do I do!

Many bookcases + big entertainment center + full closet holds most of my stuff. Sadly, I still don't have room to set up all my systems, and even to play some I have to do some wire swapping. I need a MONSTER game collector's special entertainment center......and a bigger place!

All of my stuff is stored on shelves. Even the systems. I have them all hooked up on one big shelf, with the controllers/guns right behind them. All I have to do is hook up the power and switch the tv to the appropriate console and away I go. My games are located right above the systems on the same wall. Plus I have another wall with the rest of my games and spare systems.

I've got a few small shelves loaded with games but the bulk of my collection is in boxes piled on and under my pool table. my bathroom in the basement is full of stuff too, it's really a pathetic display.

now my NEXT house....

there's built in shelves in our living room, where a stereo system and simple pictures and knick knacks were set up. But with my mother moving out and leaving me the apartment for my own, she gave me the shelf room to properly disply my stuff. (My mom's neat. Former Green Beret and actually plays some video games. I got her to do a little DDR before she finally stepped back to avoid a heart attack, but that's a different story....)

There's one shelf that spans the entire 2.5 ft. span, two shelves that take up 2 feet, and then one large squarish hold on the other sied of the two short shelves. if you can picture that. the "Hole" section is where all controllers are stored, since the shelves aren't deep enough to have system plus controllers. The longest shelf has the VCR and system switcher, with SNES, NES, SMS, and TG systems on there. The TV is on a contraption to the left of these shelves, with the CDX next to it, because it is small.

The next shelf (top small one) -had- the XBOX and PS2 but since I'm selling the XBOX stuff it's half empty. I'll probably put my N64 back in there, since the DC and Gamecube are in the bedroom (so my fiancee can play skies of arcadia and Zelda: WW respectively).

Bottom small shelf has all my games at current. I've fit a good amount in there while still being able to access most of it immediatly.

...whew.

You should have just taken a pic... would have been easier.

That said, my games are totally spread around my house until I can get my room of doom working. I have a LOT of work to do on that...

This is a great thread for the Collecting Forum, where I am currently struggling with a similar problem.

Right now I'm trying to find a good storage box for NES/SNES games. Check here for the thread with already dispensed advice, and to help out if you have any additional suggestions:

The key is to buy a bigger house :)

We did a year ago, and I've now got my stuff split between two rooms. My current stuff (PS2/Xbox/GC/DC) is hooked up to my main entertainment unit. They're all behind doors that close so it looks tidy.

Everything else (20+ systems) is upstairs in my room. I'm just using bookshelves for now (the lower 3 or 4 shelves on two units is consoles only, the games are on the top of those two units plus another entire unit, controllers I keep in a milk crate in the closet).

What I'm going to do, though, is build a custom unit inside my closet, inside the same room. Similar setup, but the games will likely have to stay over on the book shelves.

My Atari 2600 and all my games are still at my father's so that saves me alot of room right there. my NES and my core games are in a game case, and my extra SNES titles in a cartiage holder in my room also. My PSX/PS and DC titles are in cd holders I bought at TRU when I worked there. All of my other carts are organized from Atari, FF PSX, Genesis, NES and SNES on a bookcase bought at Home Deopt.

Oooh, let's see:
The majority of stuff is in the living room of my flat, which I share with two friends. Currently wired and ready to go are my Dreamcast, Xbox, Genesis and US SNES, and my flatmate's PS2. A TV/video/hi-fi unit holds another 12 systems, and my 8/16-bit computers and handhelds are in an alcove, along with Master System/NES/2600/GG/GB/NGPC/Amiga games, spare systems and other miscelleanous stuff. One set of shelves holds exclusively Megadrive/32X games, while another holds DC/Saturn/MegaCD/SNES/N64/Jaguar games, while PS2/Xbox games are on another set of shelves filled with DVDs, with PSX games piled up on the floor. There's a large box overflowing with joypads and accessories, and another couple of boxes on top of my wardrobe full of random crap.
It's not ideal, but it'll do until I get some more space or better shelves.

My NES, Saturn, and Dreamcast are always in my TV furniture-thing, but only one is connected at a time due to a lack of Composite input ports. My GBA's always in a little black case, usually on my desk. Old game boxes, magazines, manuals, posters, flyers, brochures/catalogs, books, etc. sit on my bookshelf, on and below my Manga/Anime stuff shelf. Cartridges are stored in a cabinet to keep them dust free, CD-ROM games on a CD-Spindle (and the really old, vintage ones in cases on my desk). My wooden Sega Genesis sits next to my PC, where it's hooked up with a little USB TV-input box. All my spare cables, connectors, controllers, etc. are in a large rubbermaid container, and all my computer CD-ROM games are on CD-R spindles or in their respective cases on a rack.
