Hi folks!
I just came into possession of this archaic laptop that's just delightful. It's a Toshiba Satellite T1910, that best I can tell was manufactured in or around 1990.
4MB of RAM
200MB of HD space
486 processor, 33Mhz
64-shades of grey monochrome LCD monitor
Trackball mouse adapter
Modem
3.5" floppy drive
Printer port
Male and female monitor cord port
Windows 3.1
MS-DOS 6.22
Word Perfect (not sure what version)
Comes with all its original documentation, Toshiba "companion diskette" but no program disks
It's in beautiful condition, comes with a nice leather bag.
Anybody here interested? If not, anybody know what would be a good place to look (besides e-bay) to find a buyer?

So, does it dual-boot MS-DOS 6 and Windows 3.1?
How much were you considering for price? Is the battery good? Does it come with an AC adapter?

What do you mean by dual-booting, have you had a DOS PC before
It Boots up in DOS then type in cd win for windows 3.1

MarioMania, even better! It has a very nice menu system, you can hit a single key to boot up Windows! hehe.
Yes it has an AC adapter. I haven't tested the battery life yet, that's a good question. I'll do that tomorrow.
As far as price? Lemme get some pictures up and test the battery life.

Funny.
Does the battery still hold a charge? My mother-in-law had an old pentium 133 that held a decent charge for YEARS and YEARS. I was amazed.

Technically, you don't have to change to the windows directory (which would be "cd windows"), because when windows is installed, it should add the shortcut into the autoexec.bat file automatically. You'd only need to type win or windows typically to boot windows, from anywhere in the directory.

Personally, I'd just leave it a DOS machine, 3.11 SUCKS. Sounds like a neat little unit, good luck whatever happens.

3.11 SUCKS.
Unless you want to play Windows 3.11 games that use Quicktime, in which case it doesn't. :P

Even if it didn't, you could create a path to the windows directory so that if win.exe didn't exist in your c:\ root directory, DOS would know where to look for it to run it.

Yup LOL, that explains it a little better. PATH was the word I was trying to think of. It's been a while, DOS and I.
As far as Win 3.11. I had it on my CPU back in the day, but very rarily used it. I found that most of the games that were worth playing were DOS games. Hell they were just... BETTER. Windows 3.1 was just way too buggy.
That laptop would make a perfect word processor since it's B&W or office machine.
Got any pics of this little beauty?

That's an awesome little laptop. I miss Windows 3.1. I used to play SimCity on that in my middle school, yet, somehow, my high school had Apple II computers for Journalism. Interesting how technology goes backwards when you get to high school.

I used to sell those machines at Staples back in the day.....
I laughed out loud when I saw the little side-mounted track ball mouse.....I worked there from 1992-1993ish, when I was a senior in college....college was what I did when I stopped trying to beat Super Mario World in my tiny off-campus apartment in Worcester, MA.

Holy shit that is the same model as my mother-in-law's old laptop (that I loved!)
My wife even used it for a year of grad school, so it lived with us for a while.
We installed windows 95 on it and it ran pretty well for word processing and basic internet.

Wow I had no idea there was a market for these laptops. I've thrown away so many of these old Toshiba laptops.

Truth be told there is no market. Will not net you $10 on ebay.

That (and this thread) just reminded me that my mother-in-law left her Toshiba Satellite Pro, circa 1995, at my house so I could "fix it" sometime before Christmas. I have implored her for years to get a new machine but she still clings to this one despite the fact that it has zero battery capacity and runs Windows 98 as fast as molasses in January.
Currently it doesn't even power on, which I believe is due to a loose power connector on the motherboard. Time to break out the soldering iron....
Is it worth the effort? Absolutely not, but I'm a dutiful son-in-law, and by "dutiful", I mean "too much of a whore in servitude to my extended family's constant computer issues to ever say no".

I kind of want this, but I'm struggling to figure out exactly what I'd use it for other than to make people laugh.
Fun fact: Windows 3.1 starts in less than 2 seconds on a P2-400

Ok battery life = 0. Unplug the cord and it dies instantly.
Also, there's some issue with the screen. Sometimes it doesn't display anything when powered on. Usually it does, but not always. Not sure what the exact problem is, but my guess would be a loose connection somewhere. I'm sure the computer is running (just without the screen on) because I can work blind and start Windows up, and hear the HD working.
So I'm not sure what to ask for it. Probably cost something like $10-13 to ship parcel post, less without the heavy leather case. There's one on ebay now for $40 with no buyers, but the seller won't even say if it works. I ran across a website selling one for $50 in working condition, but it didn't have the bag, trackball, or all the documentation, plus the seller had a marketplace rating (from whatever site it was) of only 80% positive.
How about $55 with the bag and $40 without it? (Shipped prices for both, $10 off either if you live in southeast Wisconsin and can pick it up)
