View Full Version : NAVA Gamer's Meeting, December 19th: "The Re-Gifting Season"

NAVA = North Atlantic Videogame Aficionados. It's FREE, and YOU are invited to attend.

Previously at NAVA...

- The store celebrated its four-year anniversary with gaming, trading, and cake.
- There was much singing and merriment. Most of the merriment was where there wasn't as much singing going on ;)
- Many games and systems traded hands between attendees.
- Pictures and video tell it best:

It's a PC Engine kinda weekend, I think, so we'll bust that out for a bunch of fighting, SHMUPS and fan-favorite dating sim action. I should have the SNES Powerpak up and running as well, so we'll have just about every Super Nintendo and Super Famicom game at our fingertips.

At 6PM we'll have a mystery tournament. The only hint I will give is that it's going to be a fighting game, and likely one that you're not familiar with. Prepare for battle!

5PM: RE-GIFTING SEASON:
--------------------------
'Tis the season of RE-GIFTING and we're going to give everyone a chance to re-wrap an old gift and get a new one in exchange. Simply bring any new or at least UNUSED videogame-related gift-wrapped item worth $10 or more gift-wrapped. We'll log you in when you arrive and put it under our tree. Everyone who contributes gets someone else's gift in exchange. At 5PM we'll unwrap the gifts!

Get your trade boxes in order. Get your game face on. It's THAT time again!

When: December 19th, noon to midnight.
Where: Digital Press Videogames: http://tinyurl.com/yscakm
What happens: Gaming, trading, tournaments, big prizes! Attendance is FREE. Half price for kids!
What can I bring?: Snacks, soda and beer are always appreciated. Cakes have been very popular as well.

DAMMIT! I promised myself I'd come to the next one. Sadly, I'm scheduled for oral surgery on Friday, so I don't think I'll make it yet again. (I'm recuping today from round one, and I can tell I won't be enjoying round two next week...)

I'm going to try to make it this month...I'll bring some interesting PC Engine stuff if so.

I'll be attending this one. The only thing I'm looking for is a Capcom CPS2 Kick Harness (or two of them).

I hope to be there unlike last month. Not really looking for anything this time but I'll be there to chill

Question: What is going to be set up? DJ Hero? LOL
(that game is amazing...)

On December 28, I'll be braving the warmth and sun in Orlando, and missing the bright and happy sub-freezing New Jersey climate, so the party will go on without me.

Hope to see you all in January!

:p

EDIT: the previous post mentioned "chill". Hee Hee...

I might stop by early on, if Joe has the SNES powerpak up, can't stay very long.

I wish I could go, this will be the first time I'm not able to attend. I'm so excited as I wanted to bring in a rare complete and fully functional PS1 Pepsi kiosk. Oh well, another time.

What the hell was I thinking!??!?!? I'd have sworn I saw something about it being on 12/28.

Hmmm. I may be able to make it then, either early afternoon or late evening, depending on which family thing I ditch. I hope to see you guys and gals sometime then.

I glad I checked the site, I had no idea that NAVA was going to be this Saturday. Joe, I got Cave's Mushihime-sama Futari for the 360 in the mail yesterday. Should I bother bringing it?

I'll be there.

I mean, I'm excited about my attendance. Don't know how the rest of you feel about it.

AND I'll be contributing to the gift exchange. I better not be getting no damned clock/radios this year!

I really hope the snow doesn't ruin this...

That had to be the inspiration for this:

Nah, but I do think I gave myself an Indian burn from all that twisting.

This is the first NAVA I have missed in quite some time. How was it? I need all the juicy details. Were any clock radios exchanged?

It was fun. Light on the patronage due to the snow but it was charmingly intimate. I don't remember seeing any clock radios but that might be because I was distracted by Mega Man X.

It was the best NAVA of the year! I got to play, chat with everyone, and DRINK properly. And by "properly", I mean "a lot".

Pictures to follow.

A little disappointed I didn't see more of the regulars in attendance at the holiest of NAVAs, but still glad to see Joe, Frankie, Mr. King, the lovely ladies of Digital Press, and a few others.

The game setup was cool. Always nice to see 16-bit on the big screen.

I strongly recommend not allowing 15-20 inches of snow prevent you from not attending the next event.

And no, no clock radios were exchanged. This year was a copy of Legend of the Four Swords, which was keeping with the Santulli White Elephant regulations.

I woke up late on Saturday to Snow, so my reaction was

"FUCK"

Hopefully next month!

I'm upset I missed it too. I could have definitely braved the snow into the late afternoon.

Kid Ice

I would have gladly braved the snow, I love small events. With a toddler at home I couldn't leave in the middle of a snowstorm and wish my wife and child good luck. It's probably for the best anyway, I've had a rough week and would have been extremely naughty.

I left when Katey locked the door at 10PM and the snow situation at least in the local area was HAPPENING, but generally fine (for a careful driver).

I understand people not showing up out of concern or due to more intense patches of downfall further south or north, but honestly I think that local weather reports blew the storm way way out of proportion, it was far from a nor'easter.

I think I should've stayed a little longer. If I did stay until the usual hour (10pm-12 midnight) I would've been screeeeeewed coming up here.

It's like someone hit the snow button and BOOM...instant deep snow within 2 hours.

The funny thing is that the fiancee is on her way back up here from Disneyworld. She is in for a world of surprise :D.

I wanted to go, and would have ignored the snow, but had several family things throughout the day. I'd have loved to be there for the more relaxed NAVA.

Oh well. I'll just have to make it to the next NAVA, Heavy Snowfall Edition.
