$5 grand for a gold paperweight? Pass.

That's a complete waste of money. If I want a PS3 I'll just pay the $300 for a normal one.

What to get the gamer on your list when money is no object.

I admit that the other thread has been poorly titled, but it's on the front page: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=139102

Whoops my mistake, I guess this one needs merged or something such. I think they should also bundle this with a golden toilet, because everyone needs one of those.

I wonder how much this will fetch on cashforgold.com? I hear they send pre paid envelopes to send your stuff to them.

There are consumers for this kind of crap; too many famous hip-hoppers always want to have shiny stuff :D

And there's another thread I created a few months ago. It's a gold PS3. Nobody cares. Just like they don't care about any other system that's probably about as much as a brand new car.

Threads merged....(well the two that were on the front page)

As it turns out, Uday Hussein is alive and well - and designing PS3 variants for Sony.

However, it's certain to keep its value better than the new $4995 Canon 1Ds Mark IV, but which will actually make you money? (Probably I should have picked something from Nikon because they like to bling their lenses up a bit.)

Is there a gold-plated George Foreman grill? There's something I could go for, assuming that it is easy to clean.

(Also, I love how the article implies that the gold NES cartridge isn't actually gold-colored plastic.)

lol, and I thought a regular PS3 was little more then a paperweight, this brings new meaning to that, doesn't it.

Even if I was rich, I wouldn't buy that, perhaps if it was a better system like a top loader NES, SNES or PS2(2 years down the road the wii may very well hit that status, but It's not there yet), but a PS3, why?

Just buy $4700 in gold bullion (with current spot, that's a bit over 4oz) and a normal PS3. Then laugh. The gold PS3 probably has 3-5 grams, if that much. Markup city. It's a Sony alright. :D

Yes and no. I see it becoming insanely valuable in 20 years.

This PS3 is only gold-plated...it could be microns thick! If I were a jackass enough to buy one, I would need to know how much gold is used, else, I'd just get some gold leaf and rub it all over to get the same effect.

True, it could be worth $10,000 in the future, just for the gold reclamation. Too bad gas will be $250 a gallon by that time too. LOL

Gas has stabilized so much in the past year I don't see it being more than $3.50 in 2020. When gas went to $4+, so many people drove so much less it hurt the companies. They learned their lesson. I hope. :)

Gas prices have been fairly level for 70+ years when priced in gold... It's the USD and the Gold PS3 I'm jabbin' at. :p
