Disc only PS2 is one of the more painful systems to have loose games for. A lot of good games in there, but you will be hard pressed to get the cases and manuals for them if you ever want them.

I'd say $1/game, or round it up to $100. At the worst, I'm sure you can trade them all into gamestop and get the money back in store credit.

Disc-only PS2 games? Not a chance.

Do they take off for no box and manual? I didn't think they did. Then again, I haven't traded in a game to GS in years.

They take off now. There is a bigger push for complete games now. I'd assume that you'd get even less for disc only stuff.

Absolutely. Plus these are PS2 games. GameStop's just thiiiiiiis close to phasing them out ala Xbox and GameCube.

A good amount of those you could get good money for disc only, for example Xenosaga III. My auction here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320455024800&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT) has 11 watchers right now so I'm sure someone will buy it soon. I've learned with disc only price it maybe $5 lower than what you would price a complete game for or less if it doesn't sell for that much and it will sell eventually, or just be the lowest price on amazon and most people there don't give a shit if its disc only.

No idea if that lot is worth the time though. You'd really have to do some research.

It's tough to say how big or small a gap between complete and non-complete is. Some games it's only a little and some it's really big, and it doesn't seem to go by any sort of pattern that I'm aware of (some rare/expensive titles have a small gap, some have a big gap, for instance).

Anyway, that's not worth anywhere near $300 even if you wanted the games for themselves. Almost none of the games there would be worth a lot of money even if they were complete. (Only two that I saw on my quick glance, anyway: Xenosaga III & .hack quarantine.) It's not even worth your time, imo.

Not even close to being worth 300. If it's for a personal collection, I'd say no more then 150 tops. Your not going to get that much in trade in at any of the major game stores and it'll be a hard re-sell on ebay as well. It's not a bad lot for personal collection aside from being all loose but that's just crappy that they are all loose. I myself wouldnt even touch it but thankfully that's not an option I have to ponder.

Wow, I did not know that. You'd think they'd keep PS2 around, at least they are still making games for it. If that's the case, I would even say $100 is pushing it. In fact, I wouldn't touch these games unless you know you are going to play the hell out of them.

Gamestop corporate really has no idea what they're doing. I mean, you'd think they'd keep Gamecube games around, and yet it seems (by my estimates) they they're going to phase them out, even though they're fully compatible with the Wii.

The PS2 will likely be phased out in the near future, even though Sony continues to make the system. It's baffling. :(

Since you only want it for resale value I wouldn't bother. You might be able to make your money back but in my opinion it's just not worth the hassle of the disc only games.

True, but the backwards compatibly issue is the killer. The three main systems currently on the market are the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. True, the Wii seems to be fully compatible with the GameCube. If it was not, however, do you think you'd be able to find ANY GameCube games at GS? I'd have to say no.

The Xbox 360 is no longer being updated to run older Xbox games, so why should they continue to stock Xbox games? That's why there is a marked push to sell off the remaining stock (Buy 2 get 2 or whatever) and they no longer accept them for trade-in.

The PS3/PS2 is the stickler. The PS3 is barely sorta somewhat backwards compatible depending on which version of the system yadda yada you all know about that stuff. The PS2 is in fact still being made, but you can't tell me new systems are flying off the shelves. And the new PS2 games being released are shovelware or crippled Wii-converts (ala Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings). So the PS2 is still marketable, but it's gonna get shut down the first time it looks like it's just taking up space and is not remotely a sales leader.

Ergo, my opinion is that the PS2 will be the next to be phased out. We'll see it go the way of the Dreamcast and Playstation as soon as it's seen as no longer viable at GS.

Friends don't let friends buy "disc only" games. $300? Bad deal. I'd forget that one.

There is no way the PS2 will be phased out anytime soon. The games still sell well, seeing as most GS still have as much space as PS3 / 360 / Wii get for them, and they still have new games for it. The next games to get phased out will be GBA and Game Cube and maybe PS2 in a few years.

The GS in the mall has FOUR ROWS of PS2 games: one for new and three for used. I don't see them getting rid of something that they devote that much floor space to. If the games weren't selling, there wouldn't be that many rows devoted to it.

I wasn't saying that they're phasing them out. I said they're gonna be next though. The trade-in value for PS2 stuff is next to nil. And they are starting to turn away trade ins of PS2 commons/uncommons, which means that demand is plummeting.

Just an ipdate. The deal fell through so I won;'t be getting these. The person got an offer of 200 for the lot so I wished them the best and ended the deal right there. Breaks my heart but that's business.

Oh, and on a side note my local gamestop recently moved all the PS2 games they had on the walls into bins so they may indeed be phazing them out very soon.

What the crap $200.I don't think those games are worth $200

mobiusclimber

That's basically $2 per disc. It's really not bad if you just want a shit-ton of games to play.
