Just wondering what you all think. You can even break it down to 2-D and 3-D games if you want.

Just wondering.

I've got two: King DeDeDe and the ending boss Nightmare at the end of Kirby's Adventure for the NES. They were so cool!

my favorite boss is the Bat-like monster with a hat from Bomberman '93. for some reason that one always stuck with me as a positive image from my early gaming days. For some reason I had tons of problems beating that one and when I did I celebrated like mad.

Remember, I was ten, so give me slack.

That poo sub-boss from Conker's Bad Fur Day is definitely the most memorable in my books...

My favourite boss would probably be Gannon though. Not because of difficulty, just because.

Ninja Gaiden's monster (The last one, that looked like that statues) kicked my ass on a regular basis. I've also fought the Albatros so many times I knew the pattern like the back of my hand.

The Mother Brain in Super Metroid is one of my most memorable boss encounters, though. I still remember the first time I souped up and beat her. I even recorded the ending, 'acting' and all (making Samus look around, pause and look behind her, that sort of thing).

Mike Tyson's Punch Out! :beaten:

Yup. Nothing was better than kicking the snot out of Tyson when he was an unbeatable bad-ass in real life.

Now he's a joke, but back then he was the man.

Still whenever I think of Bosses I think of the boss in Legendary Axe (goki??) and then Loki from Ghouls and Ghosts. Of course in this day and age they aint nothing but maybe it's just from that era when "bosses" where still relatively new and those were the baddest for a while :P

The Great Poo in Conker's BFD. So disturbing yet so damn funny at the same time.

Shodan (System Shock / SS2) 0wnz all of those bosses.

There aren't too many games where the boss taunts you / talks to you all the way to the end.

You pathetic creature of meat and bones...insect...

That's what makes it memorable. Of course if you're talking about difficulty, then I dunno...I'm sure I've faced more difficult bosses. They just didn't have Shodan's pizzazz.

"I am the great and mighty poo....."

Good times, Good times......

My most memorable boss, thats a hard one. I'd say Crash Man from Mege Man 2. For some reason I just couldn't kick that guys ass.

My favorite 3D boss it Kuja from FF9. Sure Sepiroth kicked ass, but he never blew up an entire planet just for the hell of it. And Kuja had a tail, which it always worth extra points in my book.

The Mother Brain from Super Metroid is such a memorable boss. The fact that they converge story elements into the actual fight without any dialogue is genius. When the Mother Brain powers up her ultimate attack, it's just... wow. Still, even after all these years, it's incredible.

Dr. Lugae from Final Fantasy 4 is a sentimental favorite, coupled with his lord and master, Rubicant the Fire Fiend.

I STILL haven't recovered from that Crab Boss in level 5 of Blaster Master. Its full gun or nothing.

First one that comes to mind is...

Dracula / Gargoyle from the original Castlevania.

I like the Yellow Devil as rendered in Mega Man: The Power Battle. He's got really cool music, too.

Sephiroth! (Cues angelic chanting music)

Other than the almighty himself up there, I suppose the boss from chrono trigger (Longest and one of the most challenging fights ever), Mother Brain in Super Metroid, and that R-type boss just due to his immense SIZE at the time was unheard of.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Kefka from FF3! That laugh...
