I bought this game about a week and a half ago, for a $1.99 :D , one of the very few genesis games that was eluding me. The John Madden football championship edition / rental exclusive. I see DP has it listed as a R7, but what is this game really worth?? (No I am not selling it, just wondering what the going rate is on this game.) It is very much complete and in near mint condition. Your thoughts are appreciated. I tried an ebay search and came up empty.

Thanks

I'd be surprised if it was worth more than $20. I've got a couple copies myself. I'm not really sure I agree with the R7 rating. I dunno. Maybe I just got lucky.

This was the first one I ever saw, there is one on ebay right now (w/box) 9.99 opening bid, $24.99 BIN. I don't think people realize it's rarity and just place it in the same class as other Genesis sports games.

I picked one up complete at Gamestop about 3 years ago for $0.89. I remember reading about it in an old EGM (still have the issue in fact) where it said people were paying the $100-150 penalty fee and keeping the game from the rental store. The issue also said EA was considering releasing the game as a non-exclusive, but it never happened, obviously. It's hardly ever on ebay, and not many people even know about it. It's one of my favorite finds.

For sports, Tecmo Bowl Final (SNES) is also a little tough to find and actually worth some cash, as far as sports games go (10-15 bucks on ebay)

You are right, it is a little tougher to find the TSB for SNES, but still it's not a rental exclusive. The rarity is dead on (if not on the low side). I have thousands of genesis games and have not come across it before this one.
