An unbeatable price for an awesome collection of excellent games. Even comes in a collectible tin case. There's no reason to pass this deal up. Supposedly this edition has been discontinued by Nintendo (with a regular case version coming out later on), so if you want it, better grab it now.

So the tin is their way of making up for pulling graphical effects out of the GC originals?
Sheesh...I might go for it eventually anyway.

What do you mean about pulling graphical effects out of the GC originals? Graphics are worse? What effects were pulled out. If it's not that noticeable then I don't care, but if it's something like Samus' suit no longer reflective, that'd suck.

You know the Wii has pretty much the same technical specs as the GameCube, right?
Best Buy near me was already out, gonna have to order online I guess.

just some ppl reading news sites like kotaku and never really understanding. The wii is graphically more powerful, and they weren't cut because space was too small. A small water splashing effect and a couple of the gun effects were removed from the original because of the way the game was programmed. For example when you charged up icer the gun would kinda freeze up, unfortunately the effect was placed at that specific point not on the gun.
That didn't matter in the gamecube one though because samus' gun arm never moved from that position, but in the trilogy it was changed for the wiimote so u can wave her arm all around the screen and so if the effect was not cut or recoded you would have the wiimote and arm pointing on the left side of the screen but the icing effect would be happening on some nonexistent arm. I would have preferred if they redid it but apparently was not a simple fix/worthwhile so they cut it. It's a few tiny issues, other then that it is graphically the same (cept for the widescreen)

The hardware numbers say otherwise, unless you don't count 1.5X the power of the cube to be "significant."

when I say "significantly" I do it as more as an emphasis to say it is NOT just a gamecube, it is a fair bit more powerful, sure its no 360/PS3 but it's a measured improvement.
edit: wait I didn't say significantly at all :P but I stand by what I said ^^

Source? And it really isn't.
Is this deal thread really going to turn into a GC vs Wii thread? Just check the tech specs of each console(even wikipedia has that). The Wii is around 1.5-2 times greater on almost everything when compared to the Gamecube. Sure, it's less that every other current system out there but that was never really the point of the Wii anyways. Besides, it's got these really cool Metroid games you can buy at Best Buy for the steal of $19.99 :-D

The tech specs of the Wii have never been released, even the wiki says that. I think the games themselves say enough on how it isn't significant.

And just for the record, each generation of Nintendo consoles has had at LEAST 5 times as much power as its predecessor. Even if the guesswork people have done is right, 1.5 times more power is NOT significant enough to show much better results.

I got 2 copies at Wal-Mart last Sunday via price match. I picked up one for me and one for my best friend. The cashier and the supervisor gave me the sale price but man you would have thought I was killing somebody! Quick example of how inefficient my local store is: I bought both games on the same transaction. The 1st price override prompted for a supervisor key and there was a supervisor close by so she did a key flick. The 2nd price override on the same transaction prompted for yet another key flick and the same supervisor was still standing 6 feet away. She never came back over there and a different supervisor had to walk all the way from the front of the store to turn the key the second time. Oh well, I got my games :) I went back in there last night and there were 2 copies left and one looked beat up. I guess a lot of people jumped on this deal this week!

Probably something more than this hilariously off-topic battle about whether the Wii can or can't do some graphical effect. Look at the title of this subforum - it's Daily Deals and Discounts, not "here is where you go to battle about the GC."
I'm only providing this information in case that would disappoint somebody, or in case they simply didn't know (which is a lot of us), but not to put down the Wii or this particular incarnation of the game.
Sheesh, I find some information that would influence my buying decision and figure it out in 5 minutes, but certain members of this Forum erupt in nerdrage over hardware. Look, the game doesn't have a couple extra effects, and some textures are downgraded. That bothers me just a little, but the game is also $20 and all are ported to the Wii.
Now, there's a point in favor of Trilogy over the originals: In Metroid Prime Trilogy you get MP3's award system, which wasn't in the originals. On the whole it sounds like a worthwhile purchase for a Metroid completist.
Original story in case anybody's interested (http://kotaku.com/5354254/metroid-prime-trilogy-version-looks-worse-than-the-originals).
Also lol @ troll image.

Yeah, posting "suck it up" sure adds a lot to the discussion. Not to mention coming back to the thread just because you have an axe to grind instead of having something worthwhile to add to the discussion.

Wii / GC debates are like, sooooo three years ago.
Seriously, the only argument that could conceivably work in this thread is "I don't feel this is a good deal" and the only person I'd expect to say that actually admitted to buying the damn thing.
To be more on topic myself...I've never played a Metroid Prime game since I didn't like the original Metroid / Super Metroid games...but at that price, I would surely at least give them a chance. Sadly, it seems I have missed the boat. I will keep my eyes open though.

I don't see that this has been stated yet, but this didn't have anything to do with the graphical removals from all three games for the Trilogy. Some of the effects wouldn't have worked well with the newer animation added to the games due to wii-motion being added (such as a fully charged Ice Beam shot making Samus's gun ice over).

Actually, someone pointed that out before all the nonsense started. It's actually because of the advencements of the Wii that the effects were removed(and perhaps lazyness/apathy of the developers)

I picked this up at Walmart for the same price. Although I definitely wanted this game for awhile, the main reason I picked it up now is because Nintendo will most likely never drop the price of it, even after it's moved over a million plus units.
