South Jersey Classic - Revenge of the FMV - Saturday January 9th 2010 [Archive]

It's almost time to ring in the new year and with that we need something epic to celebrate. And nothing is more epic than terrible FMV games! Sega CD, 3DO, CD-i and more...let us examine what could have been the future of gaming. As for the date, the first Saturday is actually the 2nd, but I think it will be too hectic right after the busy holidays so SJC is pushed back a week to the 9th. I need volunteers to bring the systems and the games (Jeff, I'm looking at you for 3DO)...so talk among yourselves and list what you can bring or what you'd like to see. As of recent gatherings the back of the store will be setup for our "event" and the front of the store is free for others to play what they want.

There is a horrible unreleased Sega CD game that we must play...I tried it at Joe's house many years ago and I was bent over with laughter...Bug Hunt?

I have all the memorable 3DO FMV games in my collection which I will bring with me.

I am glad this gathering is on the 9th and not the 2nd. So I shall be there!

Yeah, it would be pretty easy just to film some scenarios and throw them into a Flash presentation....maybe a little like Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, but with video instead of still frames.

just to give you all a heads up, since dave and i are celebrating b-days, i wanted to do something of my own. i think i'm going to set up a ps2 in the front and bring some of my music related games for all to enjoy.

i'm probably going to bring Beatmania, Beatmania 2DX9, Um Jammer Lammy, Bust a Move 1 and 2 (groove here in the US), Bust a Move (groove) Dance Summit 2001 and others. i want to have a little music thing going on in the front.

if anyone has an extra ps2 Beatmania controller i would appreciate it greatly if they could bring it!

My birthday is in January too so I'm planning a K-Razy Marathon. I'm going to be setting up an Atari computer at the front and from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM we'll all be playing K-Razy Shoot Out, K-Razy Critters, and the grandaddy of em all, K-Razy Antics. At 6:00 PM there will be a K-Star Patrol tournament, with the winner choosing any game he wishes from the store. Any half-steppers who don't want to get on the K-Razy train can get the bozack.

Since the event is in the back of the store I said he could set up some stuff in the front. BTW, I think I like your idea and might use it at a future gathering ;)

Whoever wants to call my freebox is welcome to it...some complete 3DO golf games on top, some music CDs in the middle, some boxed VCS games on the bottom.

Tradewise I will have some 3DO games, including a few of those much sought after FMV games.

I won't be able to make it, but Minnesota Fats Pool Legend (Saturn) better be there. I am offering a $20 bounty for the completion of it without any codes/cheats/shenanigans. If someone can beat the whole single player game and get to the credits, and get it on video (video can start at the first game against Jr.), I will give them $20 cash or Paypal.

Meh, this gathering was kind of boring. Now I know there was no 3D0 and all, but we still played some FMV games (Minnesota Fats, Kids on Site, that one Football game,) but no one seemed to want to take any initiative to do anything.

Maybe it was just me, but I thought this gathering was pretty meh, especially after the very fun December and November ones.

I beat Mega Man 2. In a speedy time. I took initiative. Just wait until February.

Sorry to disappoint. If you were bored then maybe YOU should have taken some initiative and started something (tourneys or otherwise). I can't do everything all the time.
