I'm going to the shop today in a few hours and I can only afford one for now. Both look incredibly bad ass in both music and atmosphere. I'm sure both of them play great as well. Plus, they both have quite a similar atmosphere which makes it even harder for me to decide.
Undeadline seems to have quite the original take on the genre. Looks like a grittier Twinkle Tale with its overhead perspective and its music sounds all synthy and bass filled which I love.
Gynoug looks more traditional but great too. Graphics look to be quite impressive in terms of character and enemy design and the backgrounds of the levels are sweet.
This is gonna' be a hard one.
Edit: Looks like Undeadline was only released in Japan. Guess that gives me somewhat of a reason to decide on it over Gynoug... Still it would be fun to hear everyones thoughts on the two games.

They are pretty different in terms of gameplay, Gynoug presents more of an endurance type challenge because the levels are very, very long. It's also a bit like Gradius in that you'll have an easier time if you manage not to die.
Undeadline on the other hand requires a lot of memorizing patterns to get anywhere, and because of the way the power up system works (firing at one changes what you'll get) you'll have to make quick decisions between picking the right weapons and shooting enemies. The game lets you choose the order in which you play the first four levels or so, but they are all pretty damn hard so it takes some practice before the game becomes enjoyable.
Gynoug/Wings of Wor is the better game to me, but you can get it anywhere for cheap and if you're any good at shooters you'll beat it pretty fast. If you like spending days mastering a game and want something a little different then you'll probably prefer Undeadline.

The first 6 stages, not the first 4. We're talking MegaDrive right?
Anyway, I've barely ever spent any time in Wings of Wor, but the time I did it seemed pretty good. The music reminded me heavily of Shining Force, which is a good thing. The stages are long and sometimes there is a surprise in terms of challenge (the first time through anyway) but mostly it's not too hard. Definitely not bad though.
Undeadline is one of my favourite MegaDrive/Genesis shooters and games period. Good music, challenging stages and bosses, and nice graphics. T&E Soft make good games and this is no exception. Shorter and with only one character (as opposed to 3 I believe in the MSX game) I still think this is the best version. A memorizer to be sure, but a lot of times it's being able to figure out where to position oneself at given points in the game. I won't spoil anything besides saying it's a good challenge, which usually isn't said of console only shooting games.
Undeadline is probably more expensive, but this is an assumption. I got my copy very reasonable, less than $30 off Yahoo some years ago but it's the one I could recommend.

Undeadline is MUCH harder, in fact it's one of the hardest games I know of.
Both games are great though.

I'm gonna' make the swoop for Undeadline then. I was favoring it a bit before I made this thread anyway. Gynoug will come later.
On a somewhat related note, any of you owners of Undeadline have a copy with a sticker that isn't peeling off at the top? Some Megadrive games do this, but in Undeadline's case it seems to be every copy I look at and I've looked at over five. I'm about to just settle with a sticker peeled one because I'm fed up and just want to play the game at this point.
I don't know which is worse, the yellowing of Super Nintendo plastics or the peeling stickers of Megadrive carts. God help the collector in me. Hah.
