So I just got back home for Xmas and my only system back here is a gamecube, so I decided I'd pick up a copy of the megaman collection to have things to play through.
Somehow they fucked up the jump and fire buttons. They had it right for YEARS and then somehow forget.
Does anyone know if any of the other versions of the megaman collection (playstation, xbox) have this right??! Do any of them let you change the controller configuration??
Also, should I expect similar problems from the megaman X collection?
Thanks for any input.

Crap, didn't realize I put this under the computer section. Is there any way to move it?

I'm pretty sure the PS2 Anniversary Collection has the correct controls. If you own a GC Action Replay, I imagine there's a code out there that remaps the two keys.

Yeah, I think I started a thread about this problem soon after the game was released. Drove me nuts too. Ended up selling the GC version and got it for Xbox which had remapable controls. I'm pretty sure the PS2 version fixed it also.

Yeah, fortunately Capcom did the MMX collection in house and allows you to remap the controls.
You best bet might be the Xbox version, since I believe it's got both of the exclusive bonuses that the GC (interview) and PS2 (TV episode) had.

The PS2 version doesn't have remappable controls.
And it has this really stupid bug where you can't have arrange music without having those in-game tips to help you find hidden stuff. :|

True the PS2 version doesn't have remapable buttons, but it had the layout correct in the first place. I should know, I sold my Gamecube version and bought the PS2 version because of the incorrect button layout.

Xbox is the one to get. X collections on the game cube is just right. Even got the special edition x controller for the gamecube for 10 bucks with the game for 20 :)

Bought the GC version of MMC on release day, and was disappointed/pissed about the switched buttons like everyone else. I ended up picking up the PS2 version a year later. Still have the GC version. It hasn't been played since that summer though.

TOTALLY traded my GCN collection for the PS2 collections specifically for this reason. I mean, really... who the hell thought that putting them on backwards was a good idea...?

Wow. Screwing up something as basic as button layout, it's no wonder they couldn't figure out Mode 7 graphics.
Quoted from http://www.giantbomb.com/mega-man-anniversary-collection/61-6141/ (http://www.giantbomb.com/mega-man-anniversary-collection/61-6141/);
"The port of Mega Man 7 lacks support of the Mode-7 chip, used for high-tech graphics. This is hard to emulate, so Atomic Planet had to cut some graphics out of this game port, most notoriously the credits sequence, which is a normal white-on-black scroll in the ported version of this title."

The people who made the compilation are idiots. I heard that a lot of video content didn't make the Gamecube version because they didn't know how to compress video. I'm used to the ****ed up controls now though. It's something you eventually get used to.

Doesn't bother me on the gc version of the collection.Simply put i use a (PS2 to GC controller adapter) to play it.Still it was lazy of capcom not to throw in a button configuration option to begin with.

Just look at all the junk they've ported / made. (http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/atomic-planet-entertainment-limited/)

My friend had the misfortune to get the GCN version and having the chance to see that the buttons were "wrong" and without an option to change it, I made right to get the Xbox version, which has righteous button lay-out.
Also the Xbox game is backwards compatible on the 360.

Count me as someone who ditched the GC version of the game for the PS2 version. I didn't trust the MMX collection because of this and just went ahead and got the PS2 version of that as well. I would have gotten the Xbox version but I've had 2 machines with HDD failures and wasn't keen on having software for a machine that didn't work. I wasn't aware that the Xbox version was playable on the 360 though.

Does that normalize/correct the button layout?

I guess I never really had a problem with the button layout for the GCN version due to the collection being my first experience with classic MegaMan.

You could always get one of the thrustmaster controllers for wii, and use it on your gamecube cause they are 100% compatible. It lets you remap the buttons for GC games. I use it for the Mortal Kombat games on the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 disc. You can get them from Amazon for $19.99. See here...

Good to know!
I have the collection on PS2, but I also have a PS2 to Gamecube adapter ... so if the Gamecube collection ever finds its way into my possession I can enjoy it on Wii as well.
