Is there anybody that makes and sells these? I found one random forum where somebody was selling one, but it seemed more of a custom, one-time thing he had made, not something he did regularly. His cart was half green half yellow, it looked pretty sweet. Anyway, other than that, I haven't seen anything, nor seen any talk about them in any of the repo threads that I've read through here.

You obviously mean reproduction, not reposession. I was expecting drama where the owner tried to reclaim theirs. No such luck.

Repro, not repo ;)

I was waiting for these to pop up on RetroUSB.

I would have thought it was "repro" as well, but I thought I had seen people on various threads just calling them "repos", so I went with that.

So then is is safe to say that the Donkey Kong Competition carts seen on ebay are probably repros?

it's not an easy repro. so I'd say the one you see on ebay are probably the real deal. I think the person you're thinking of is parapunk, I think he had the custom made DKC repro.

For the cost of reproing the DKC CC, you could almost buy the real thing.

Seriously, I still don't see how these blatant piracy threads are allowed to exist.

I think he's asking if the one he saw was real. This board does have many threads about reproduction games and how to make and where to buy them.

I'm new here and I've seen tons of threads talking about it so I figured it was ok here.

The difference is, the other games were *never* available stateside, or were fan translated. This was made stateside. Unlike, for example, Seiken Densetsu 3, when you have no other option if you want it in English, you do have an option with the DKCC (buy the real thing), which means you can also sell the repro for way more money then someone would generally charge for making one.

Star Fox competition cartridge can be bought here as well, but I've seen it mentioned in the repro threads.

Additionally, I feel a little different about competition cartridges than I do other games, because they were never available for retail. It's not like I'm trying to get a repro of Aero Fighters or something. I know that doesn't make it 100% ok, but it's a little different in my book.
