I picked up FFVIII today, and it has all four discs, but it also has a sampler. The sampler doesn't fit in the case, so when was it included? It is entitled 1998 Collector's CD vol.2.

That's the Final Fantasy VIII demo disc that came with Brave Fencer Musashi at the end of 1998. Vol. 1 came with Parasite Eve in October 1998, and had trailers of Final Fantasy VIII, Brave Fencer Musashi, Bushido Blade II, and a playable demo of Xenogears.
Vol. 3 came with Vagrant Story in spring 2000.
